Women of the Week

Women of the Week

By  |

This past week of TV certainly kicked off with a bang with the majority of our latest Women of the Week picks being from Sunday night. Who made our list for the week? Read on to find out!

Nominated by Christie: Maisie Williams as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones

Arya justifies every step she’s taken in her journey last night, and we all hope she’s not done yet.

Bella Ramsey as Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones

We should all pour one out for Lyanna Mormont, who went out as a warrior queen far beyond her years.

Sandra Oh as Eve Polastri on Killing Eve

Sunday’s Killing Eve could be subtitled “how Eve got her groove back.” And Sandra killed it with her cold precision.

Nominated by Rueben: Maisie Williams as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones

It has to be said that Arya on Sunday’s Game of Thrones was just AMAZEBALLS, fighting off so many from the Army of the Dead, sneaking away from them, racing away from them and then – best of all – taking the Night King down near the end of the episode. I screamed SO loud when she leaped out of nowhere and then stabbed him. It was just incredible!

Nominated by Ange: Barrett Doss as Victoria ‘Vic’ Hughes on Station 19

As Station 19‘s second season heads to a close, Thursday night marked the show’ first death of one of Seattle Fire Department’s own – Chief Lucas Ripley. In the second half of the big Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 crossover the Chief sadly succumbed to the effects of being exposed to hydraulic acid during an earlier call and his death not only had an impact on the SFD, but also his secret girlfriend and fellow firefighter, Victoria ‘Vic’ Hughes. The pair may have only been dating for months but as flashbacks throughout the episode showed, they were the real deal. At the start of the episode, Hughes thought that Ripley had stood her up and was rejecting her marriage proposal from the previous episode. She threw herself into her work, knowing that if she paused for a moment and let herself feel, she’d break down. Throwing herself into her work and brushing off her colleagues concerns lead her to the top of tower connecting with a depressed and anxious woman in an attempt to try and coax her down. When she learned about Ripley’s condition, her previous anger turned into worry, which would then turn into guilt and then helplessness when Ripley’s sister refused to let Hughes in with her to get details about Ripley’s condition. When Hughes was finally allowed to see Ripley, she was scared but ended up overcoming her fears and putting on a brave face to say goodbye to her love. The final scene between Hughes and Ripley was bittersweet knowing that she wasn’t going to be able to spend the rest of her life with him, but he was spending the rest of his life with her.

Nope, we’re still not okay after last week’s episode of Station 19. Image: ABC/Eric McCandless)
