Women of the Week

Women of the Week

Which leading ladies impressed us on screen this past week? Read on and find out!

NOMINATED BY ANGE: ALICE LEE AS EMILY KANG ON ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST

We’re so used to seeing Emily as the quippy and confident one, so watching her silently suffering as she struggled with post-partum depression was a different side to her. Lee shone final scene of the latest episode of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, in particular where she went from singing Max’s lovestruck heart song to her own emotional heart song!

SECONDED BY RUEBEN:

I know that Karen, Roz and I were definitely impressed with Alice Lee’s performance in this week’s episode of Zoey! It was heart wrenching to watch her in that final scene to say the least.

NOMINATED BY RUEBEN: OLIVIA LIANG AS NICKY SHEN ON KUNG FU

I’ve been impressed with Kung Fu so far and Olivia Liang is a great newcomer (I know she was in Legacies, but this show, obviously, puts her on the international spotlight way more). She’s doing a great job!

SECONDED BY LISA:

I am all for Olivia Liang for a Women of the Week pick. I am so impressed with her and she kicks major ass. Kung Fu is my new favorite show and she is a rising star for sure!

THIRDED BY ANGE:

I’ve also just jumped on the Kung Fu train and am enjoying it! I had previously seen Liang pop up in YouTube videos by Wong Fu Productions, so it’s awesome to see her doing well, plus having another butt-kicking female lead on screen. I also have to say all the females on the show so far are strong women in their own way and I can’t wait to see more of the show!

NOMINATED BY RUEBEN: LAURA DONNELLY AS MRS. TRUE ON THE NEVERS

Then there was Laura Donnelly in the debut episode of The Nevers. Her character of Mrs. True is quite a departure from Jenny in Outlander especially in terms of the fight sequences. It’ll be great to learn more about her character and those who have “been touched” in future episodes.
