Woman of the Week

By  |

In our latest edition of Woman of the Week, we’re all hailing Queen B!

Nominated by Cara: Beyoncé in Homecoming

My Woman of the Week is Beyoncé. I mean, COME. ON. Homecoming had me dancing, singing, jumping up and down, even crying. She was so vulnerable about how difficult it was for her to come back after having twins and so empowering when she talked about the sacrifice she made to get back on that stage. She owns that stage, and yet makes room to use it as a platform to feature HBCU culture and give a performance that lets young people, particularly young black women, see themselves represented in a stage packed full of excellence. #Queen

Seconded by Roz:

I’ll echo this because that documentary is a pillar of strength, especially when you notice she directed and was an executive producer for it.

Thirded by Lisa:

I agree with Cara 100%! This documentary was phenomenal! I worked up a sweat singing and dancing in my living room. To see that behind the scenes look at her life and how hard she worked was mind blowing. I came away a bigger than I was before! Also, I have to thank Beyoncé for having dancers of all shapes and sizes in her show. As a plus size woman and former dance, this meant so much to me and representation of all forms really matters. Well done! #Beychella #Homecoming
