Who are our latest Women of the Week? Read on and find out!

Nominated by Leah: CeCe Moore from The Genetic Detective on ABC

With no degree in the field, just a love of genetics, CeCe has turned her hobby into a crime solving tool. With the help of GEDMatch (open database of DNA submitted by the public) she helps law enforcement match DNA they have from unsolved crimes. She’s funny, sweet, clearly very smart and badass. She has used her skills as a Genetic Genealogist to do everything from help reunite adopted people with their birth parents to catch murderers and rapists.

Nominated by Ange: Meghann Fahy as Sutton Brady-Hunter on The Bold Type on Freeform

This week on The Bold Type, Sutton has her first ultrasound, only to find out that there’s no heartbeat and that she will experience a miscarriage within 48 hours. For most of the episode, Sutton distracts herself with work. It isn’t until the end of the episode that she allows herself to break down and seek the comfort of her best friends. It’s during these moments that we see a standout performance by Fahy where Sutton cries and reveals that she thinks she is relieved that she doesn’t have to go through with the pregnancy. The tears are a result of her guilt and wonder as to whether those feelings make her a terrible person. Yes, she’s a newlywed but she’s also a 26-year-old, who is just starting her career. It’s a credit to the show on exploring a different side to this topic. I look forward to seeing how this storyline plays out and for Fahy to have the opportunity to go deeper with her character, who is usually the more fun and lighthearted one in the group.
