Who wowed us on screen this past week? Read on and find out!

Nominated by Rueben: Jessica Camacho as Emily Lopez on  All Rise (CBS)

My first pick is Jessica Camacho from All Rise.  Her character Emily Lopez was assigned a domestic violence case; and despite her own abusive marriage, she kept telling those closest to her that she was fine.  That was clearly not the case as she slipped ever further into an abyss that started with her hands shaking, frantic reactions in court, angry deliveries of questions to witnesses and even harsh words to her counterparts in court.  It was clear that her past was coming back to haunt her in this case; and she wasn’t handling any of those emotions well – but that made for one amazing performance.  That was especially so in the final scene where she was repeatedly banging closed a cabinet door in the kitchen before falling to the floor where she broke into an uncontrollable wail that woke up her dear friend and roommate Sara.

Nominated by Rueben: Varada Sethu as Lance Corporal Manisha Chetri on  Strike Back (Cinemax)

My other pick is Varada Sethu from Strike Back. Her character Lance Corporal Manisha Chetri went AWOL in order to be a whistleblower on the team’s current world-altering mission.  While she is normally the tech expert on the team and not in the field the way the other team members are, we got to see Chetri in action, fighting off undercover Russians who eventually – despite her fighting back – captured her.  She was roughed up during her capture and then beaten by one of the Russian solders, being “forced” to provide access to the cloud system that contained all her proof of the conspiracy between the intelligence agencies involved in their latest mission.  But she got the upper hand (albeit temporarily) when the Russians soon discovered that she actually caused a virus to eat away the digital proof.  Just as her team showed up to rescue her, villainous Arianna Demachi shot her in the head.  It was a devastating moment for the team, but an incredible, overall performance by Varada.
