Women of the Week

Woman of the Week

Which leading lady was the standout on our screens this past week? Read on to find out!

Nominated by Rueben: Kelsey Asbille as Monica Long Dutton on Yellowstone.

Starring in a series with Kevin Costner and a LOT of men it could be easy for the women to get overshadowed. But in Wednesday night’s latest episode of the family ranch saga, Kelsey really stood out. She has taken on a new teaching position at a university where she will be teaching American History with a focus on Christopher Columbus. As a Native American, Monica made it clear to the Dean that she would be teaching the real history of the man who discovered America while helping to enslave and nearly wiped out the indigenous people.

When a smart mouth white boy college student made a rude comment to her at the start of her first class, Monica didn’t yell, didn’t get flustered simply put that college boy in his place with reason and right. She exuded a calm confidence that (after the fact) belied the truth that she was actually terrified. But she handled that situation so well and impressed me so much that she fully deserves to be one of our Women of the Week.
