THE BOLD TYPE: Three rounds of Two Truths and a Lie in 3×09 “Final Push”
As we inch closer to the season finale of Freeform’s THE BOLD TYPE, the stakes become higher. In the penultimate episode of season three, we see a resolution to Kat’s political campaign and other truths are revealed. Can you figure out which ones they are as we play Two Truths a Lie with tonight’s episode?
SUTTON
A) She’s going against the norm and deciding to go with non professional models to show off her designs in the showcase.
B) She and Richard decide to do long distance when he receives an amazing job offer.
C) She helps Carly out when the tween experiences some self confidence issues.
The lie is B. Richard does get offered an amazing job offer when an old friend reaches out and lets him know that they’re starting their own clean energy company and want Richard to be a part of it. Sutton is supportive as she knows that this has always been a dream of his. However the company is based in San Francisco so Richard has no hesitation in turning the job down. As for A and C, when Oliver asks Sutton to watch Carly for a few hours, Sutton notices something is not quite right with the tween. It takes her a while to open up but she admits to Sutton that it’s school picture day and she doesn’t want to go because she doesn’t look like an Instagram model. It’s really sad to see a girl as young as Carly struggle with this and know that it rings true in the world today. Sutton points out to her that Instagram isn’t a real representation and inspired by this pep talk, she decides she’s not going to fuel the problem by having yet another professional model on some detox tea diet model her designs. Instead she asks Kat and Jane to be her models.
JANE
A) She handed out slap bands as part of her campaign for class treasurer during her senior year.
B) She and Jacqueline confront Pamela Dolan and end up publishing the story on the dot com instead of in the Fall issue.
C) She and Ryan decide to officially move in together.
A and B are both truths. She and Jacqueline end up having to push their story early when they catch wind that another publication will be running a conflicting Pamela Dolan story and were most likely tipped off by the subject. Makes sense seeing how calm she was when they confronted her. The story goes live on the Scarlet website but we’ll have to wait until next week to see what the repercussions are from it. Sadly C is the lie and if anything it looks like Jane and Ryan are headed for Splitsville. He makes a surprise visit from his book tour only to reveal that he got drunk and kissed someone else. He appears remorseful and Jane is understandably distraught but puts on a brave face at Kat’s election party. Can they come back from this?
KAT
A) She turns to Adena rather than Tia, Jane or Sutton when she has doubts about her potential future career in politics.
B) She resigns from Scarlet.
C) When 98% of the votes are added up, it’s still close to call between her and Councilman Lawrence.
The lie is B, but there was talk of starting the search for her replacement once she won the election (which made Kat feel uneasy and start to panic about the future as she obviously hadn’t thought far ahead and realised that becoming councilwoman would mean leaving her current job). Although at 98% of the votes it was a tight race, Councilman Lawrence ended up retaining his seat and scoring the majority of votes. On the bright side, this means that Kat won’t have to leave Scarlet now. Something tells us that she’ll find another way to change the world around her and make a difference!
THE BOLD TYPE airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Freeform.
