THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: I’D LEAVE MY HAPPY HOME FOR YOU {RECAP}
After Damon’s shocking statement last week about taking the cure with Elena to become human, I couldn’t wait for this episode to see where things go! Also Mama Salvatore is on the loose! Let’s dive in!
Jo and Alaric are getting married so it was Bachelorette/Bachelor party time! Bonnie and Elena hired a male stripper (dressed as a cop) to dance for Jo at the hospital. It was pretty funny. Damon and Stefan had a big house party for Alaric (after kidnapping him from his house). No matter what, they all know how to party!
Mama Salvatore is having a tough time controlling her bloodlust. Enzo put a bug in Stefan’s ear that she needed his help (and also filled him in that Mama Salvatore turned him into a vampire in 1903). Stefan found his mother just as she was about to attack someone. Perfect timing. Stefan tried to give her a pep talk former ripper to ripper but it didn’t work. She attacked a guy and then apologized for the mess and left.
Elena was still in shock over Damon’s suggestion to take the cure together. They met up on the clock tower and he admitted when he said that, it was a mixture of the truth and fear of losing Elena forever. She was afraid he would miss being a vampire and resent her for the rest of his life. He grabbed her hand and told her that he wanted to show her something. They held hands and jumped off of the clock tower together. Damon showed Elena her old house and the spot where they kissed for the first time (even though she doesn’t remember it). He told her that he would give up being a vampire for a life with her. She admitted that she wanted to take the cure but she was afraid he would regret it. He told her he was ready for reality if she was. She told him that she loved him and he said, “Til death do us part…bottoms up!” And then she drank the cure. Whoa!
Mama Salvatore saw Bonnie with Jo and her anger got the best of her. She blamed Bonnie for destroying the ascendant and not being able to save her “family.” Bonnie warned her to leave but she threw a metal receipt poker at Bonnie and it stabbed her in the neck. She was about to attack Jo, but Jo yelled out “I’m pregnant!” and she stopped. She listened to Jo’s stomach and realized there were two heartbeats. She told Jo they were twins and wished her good luck. Jo rushed over to save Bonnie.
After Elena drank the cure, her eyesight got fuzzy and then memories of Damon started flooding back to her. The cure undid the compulsion. She pricked her finger and it didn’t heal so she knew it worked. She kissed Damon and they had a nice loving moment until Stefan called to warn Damon that Mama Salvatore was on the loose and not to take the cure. As if on cue, Mama Salvatore came up behind Damon and snapped his neck. She realized Elena was human and wanted to feed on her, but Elena hit her in the eye with the needle on her bachelorette pin and ran away. Damn, Elena picked the wrong day to be human.
Stefan found his mother crying. She said she was a mess and tried to stake herself and then Stefan but Damon stabbed her in the neck with vervain and she was down for the count. They locked her up in the cell in the basement at the Salvatore Mansion.
Jo took Bonnie to the hospital and Damon gave her some of his blood so she will make a full recovery. Man, Bonnie has been through so much, will she ever catch a break? Alaric came to the hospital and Jo told him they were having twins. “The more the merrier,” he said. Jo was fearful that her family would try to take their twins from them because a new Gemini coven set of twins merging would strip Kai of his powers for good. Alaric assured her that they wouldn’t tell her family and that they were going to disappear after the wedding.
Damon got home and found Elena there. She remembered everything about her love for Damon including a conversation that they previously had about the cure, and how Damon did not want to take it. She told Damon that she loved him but she couldn’t let him take the cure because she knew deep down that he doesn’t want too.
Kai is making dinner in the prison world and rings a bell for Mama Salvatore’s family to come eat. He said “It’s time to get the hell out of this place.” Then he laughed an evil but friendly laugh that sent chills down my spine. It’s going to get real folks. Tune in next week!
Quote of the night: Damon – “I’ve had so much fantasy in my life Elena, enough for 100 lifetimes, and I’d give it all up for one life with you.” *insert sniffle here*
