What have the Nice Girls been watching while quarantining? A lot of TV! Read on to find out who has impressed us this past week!
Nominated by Roz: The Women of Mrs. America on FX on Hulu
I can’t narrow it down, so all the women involved in Mrs. America. Tackling the different sides to the ratification of the ERA gives all of us a chance to look at the challenges faced in both sides – neither side was a monolith in their opinions except in support or rejection of equal rights for women – and the cast and crew do a fantastic job of highlighting the successes and failures along the way.
The first four episodes are full of subtle moments that made me ache. I can’t wait for more of this series.
Nominated by Ange: Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani on 9-1-1: Lone Star on FOX
With the #OneChicago franchise done for the season and the fact that I already watch the Shondaland shows, I need to get my first responders TV fix. I’m late to the party but I have discovered 9-1-1: Lone Star over the last couple of days. Already halfway through the 10-episode season, I totally have a girl crush on Natacha Karam’s Marjan Marwani! Not only is Marwani the bad ass female firefighter on an otherwise all-male team, she’s also a Muslim woman who manages to stand firm with her beliefs and still pull off daring stunts. One of the highlights I’ve seen so far is Marwani rescue a woman suspended mid-air in an upside down car as the result of a tornado – yes it was as crazy as it sounds! I’m looking forward to binging the rest of the season and seeing what Karam/Marwani gets up to next!
