BLINDSPOT Roundtable: Artful Dodge

By  |

This week on Blindspot the team deals with the knowledge that Borden is alive and Rich’s place with the team is in jeopardy.

For once Rich wasn’t the craziest part of an episode he’s in.
Rueben: I know, right? He was being honest with this Millicent chick, and she seemed to be intent on getting him off the team no matter what he said.
Lisa: I do not like Millicent. She wouldn’t even give Rich a chance!
Roz: That’s a crazy idea! He was just being honest – a first – and it didn’t get him what he wanted in the end.

Borden’s back. How do you feel about his appearance? What he’s been up to? How it ended?
Rueben: I’m troubled that they would retread his character again, but we all kinda had the inkling that he was maybe still alive before they told us that truth. What I think bothered me more was how long Zapata knew the truth without saying anything. I can’t imagine they would bring him back into the storyline for that little amount of time without having some grander scheme for his reappearance.
Lisa: I was surprised that he was still alive. I did not see that coming! Like Ruben, the fact that Zapata kept it from Patterson for so long knowing the impact it would have on her, that was a lot to take in. Patterson has every right to be upset with Zapata and I don’t know if their friendship will survive this.
Roz: It feels like old hat to bring back all of these characters from before in new ways, but it feels okay when the tattoos have multiple connections. I wish Borden’s cell hadn’t been bent on destroying the US (it is old!).

Dragonfly finally came to light. Are you surprised Zapata told the FBI the truth?
Rueben: And it was Rich who brought it to the forefront for Patterson to look into it more. Yeah, I didn’t expect Zapata to spill the beans, but I think she finally felt forced that she had to come clean. We all know that Patterson would not have stopped until she figured out who Dragonfly 164 and Atlantic 17 were anyway.
Lisa: I was surprised that Zapata told the team as well. I still can’t believe that she kept that information to herself for so long.
Roz: I think she had to tell the truth, but she’s been holding this out for so long that I’m sort of glad the secret had to come out.

Speaking of telling the truth….Zapata finally told Reade she loved him. Too little too late?
Rueben: Yep, too little too late. This seems to be a recurring theme for her. I don’t really know what else to say.
Lisa: I agree. She had plenty of chances to come clean with Reade and didn’t. and her timing was horrible.
Roz: Why even try when Reade seems so happy?

Crawford’s plan….why doesn’t it sound so bad? There must be more too it, right?
Rueben: It sounds like his version of Utopia, but no Utopia can truly work so there has to be something far more sinister going on. I just can’t seem an end game where this kind of world would work without someone getting hurt, people being mistreated, et al. No world like that can exist except on paper in my opinion.
Lisa: Yes! What Rueben said!
Roz: Utopias always turn quickly into distopias, so I’m assuming that as soon as they get this peacekeeping force, something will go wrong.

Anything else you want to discuss?
Rueben: What is really going on with Roman? Is he really sick or was that just a ploy to get closer to Crawford? Why is this the first time we are “hearing” anything about these headaches that he’s getting? I have to question what is really going on there. And what’s more, Crawford gives a fancy pen to those in his “inner circle?” Really, that’s all. It’s like Howard Payne getting that cheap gold watch in “Speed” – lame gift for all those years of service. Was it just me or does there seem to be something deeper potentially going on there? A bug on the pen to tell Crawford what Roman is doing at all times, maybe?
Lisa: I feel like Roman was exaggerating his headaches, but it also seemed like they were real. He is so hard to read because he is such a good liar. Also, I’m curious to see what Reade is going to do now that he knows Zapata’s true feelings for him. And lastly what is going to happen with rich.com? I will be pissed if he’s not on the team.
Roz: Roman’s headaches are oddly timed, but I feel like it’ll play out later because he can get closer to Crawford with that PTSD reveal.
