BLINDSPOT: Let It Go {Roundtable}

By  |

Blindspot introduced us to Patterson’s Dad (Guest Star Bill Nye) and found the team with one lead in an overloaded tattoo database while Roman (Luke Mitchell) is having his own myriad issues with Crawford’s attorney and plan.

Lisa, Leah, Rueben and I dig into “Let it Go” below…

Tasha – what are you doing? This deal with the wedding can’t be good for anything or does it end out the way you wanted to in the end?

Leah: Tasha is having a rough few episodes and it is all because she is making shitty decisions. Why would this be any different. I don’t even know how I wanted that to end.

Lisa: *facepalm* What is her deal? They definitely left the door open for her and Reade. Meh.

Rueben: I wasn’t happy with this whole Reade and Meg engagement to begin with let alone Zapata throwing a wrench into. I wish it would all just fade away, but now that they’ve, like Lisa said, left the door open for Reade and her…well, I’m not sure I want to see that either.

Roz: I haven’t liked Meg and I think the planned wedding was a disaster, but this was even more of a disaster. It was too many things in the end, but Tasha’s still mucking things up as she goes.

Comment on Weller’s little fanboy moment with Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Leah: I loved it. That’s the beauty of Bill Nye. Everyone loves him!

Lisa: It was awesome! I always enjoy a random fanboy/fangirl moment. Even cooler that he is Patterson’s Dad.

Rueben: That was priceless, seeing Weller act like a fanboy, especially Patterson’s reaction. How much better that Jane had no idea who Bill Nye was and Weller just comments that she has an issue with her memory. It was the perfect bit of levity.

Roz: I have to watch Nye videos sometimes at work so I’m with Weller on feeling overwhelmed if I met him.

Does this story with Avery’s godmother give you any more sympathy for Avery? Or is this just one more nail in the why Avery’s life is rotten?

Leah: Avery had a fine life and her parents were good to her. It wasn’t until they died and Roman meddled, and she fell for his charm, that she knew anything was off. So honestly I couldn’t care less about this story. Everyone has problems.

Lisa: I had a little more sympathy, but not much. I did like seeing her work well with Jane because you could tell it meant a lot to Jane. I still don’t trust her though.

Rueben: I’ve not been an Avery fan from the beginning because it just seemed like such a soap opera plot point to throw into the show, and it’s felt like the writers are simply throwing whatever they can into her story to see what sticks. Can we just end this whole Avery part of the show already?

Roz: At least now Avery can realize just how much of her life was a lie; it’s clear that Crawford is truly all over her life and he must have real reasons for wanting her dead, but it’s tired and we have too many weird issues with Crawford to add Avery to the list.

What is really going on with Roman? Now he’s hallucinating Jane and another iteration of Roman at the same time.

Leah: He’s definitely devolving. Not sure what exactly is happening though.

Lisa: Yeah, I wondered if that woman drugged him? I don’t know what his deal is but he was tripping!

Rueben: He has an actual medical condition; so I think whatever is going on is either something laid on him during his time with Sandstorm or it’s a genetic thing. He was taking pills to seemingly try to shut off that illusions, but it wasn’t working. I don’t think Crawford’s attorney has anything to do with whatever is going on with him (medically, that is).

Roz: Rueben has some of what I think is going on; Roman can’t be having those hallucinations without something else being wrong with him (and outside of all the Jakeman PTSD), but I don’t know what yet. It’s not good one way or another.

MVP?

Leah: Can I pick Bill Nye….

Lisa: Oohhh….I was gonna pick Jane but I want to copy Leah. Bill Nye for the win!

Rueben: Three-peat. Bill Nye was pretty great in every scene; and I was so hoping he would let Patterson’s real name slip very quietly so that only she (and the audience) could [FINALLY!] hear it.

Roz: Clean sweep for Bill Nye! He was a great – and creative – guest with some good lines in an episode that could have been way too heavy.

Blindspot airs Fridays at 8PM on NBC.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
