MODERN FAMILY: CRYING OUT LOUD {RECAP}

By  |

It’s Senior Ditch day! I remember my senior ditch day. All of my friends went to Six Flags and rode roller coasters, and ate funnel cakes and had a blast! Will Alex be a buzzkill? Or will she ditch school? Let’s dig in!

Even though it was senior ditch day, Alex wanted to go to school because she knew it would be quiet and she could focus on picking her college roommate. Phil and Luke had a different idea. Phil told her Luke was hurt and in the hospital and to hurry up and get in the car. Haley and Alex got in the car and Luke popped up in the back seat. They were kidnapping Alex and taking her to Adventure world (without Claire). They were so excited and Alex was less than thrilled.

Claire got a job offer from a big hotel chain and didn’t know if she should take it. It was a great opportunity with more money and better benefits, but she didn’t want to leave her Dad’s company. She told Jay about the offer and he told her to take it, so she felt like he didn’t care if she stayed. Then she saw him looking at her picture and crying, and she knew she couldn’t leave him, so she turned down the offer.

Manny got his wisdom teeth pulled and a loopy Manny is quite comical. Manny has a new girlfriend and Gloria doesn’t like her. She thinks her clothes are too tight, her heels are too high and that she smothers Manny too much. Manny told her that she was describing herself and they both switched their tune. Manny was totally grossed out by Kylie now because he thought he was dating his mother, and Gloria thought she might have misjudged Kylie and she would be good for him. Too funny!

On the way to Adventure world Phil noticed that a theatre he helped build (and where Haley and Alex used to watch cartoons) was being torn down. He came up with a new plan. Break into the theatre one last time. They broke in and on the stage in the cement were Haley and Alex’s baby footprints. Phil wanted to take the footprints with him, so he and Luke began to tear it up and Haley and Alex went to sit in the theatre. Alex wanted to leave and go to school because she didn’t have time to hang out in a theatre; Haley got upset and told her to leave since she had better things to do.

Alex was annoyed but stayed and they both ended up laughing at Luke and Phil. They were trying so hard to get those footprints up but they were making a mess and it was really funny. Their shadows onstage looked like black and white cartoons and Alex said it was nice watching cartoons with her sister again. Aw! Haley admitted that she was worried when Alex went to college she wouldn’t call her. Alex assured her that she would and they would probably be closer while she was at college. They had a super sweet sister moment.

Cam and Mitch were worried about Lily not having feelings. Mitch thought it was because he didn’t show emotion often, so he watched The Bridges of Madison County (the only thing that makes him cry) and planned to be crying when Lily got home. He told Cam about his plan and Cam got emotional that a movie about being trapped in a loveless marriage was the only thing that made Mitchell cry. Then Cam started crying just when Lily got home from school. Mitch realized that Lily was desensitized because Cam cried at the drop of a hat. They talked to Lily and she proved to them she had feelings when the thought of her daddies being sick and not getting better consumed her. All is well in Cam and Mitch’s household.

Claire went back to her Dad’s office and saw him using her picture as a mirror to “trim the hedges” (gross) and she realized he wasn’t crying like she thought. So she called back and accepted the job. She went back and forth twice declining/accepting the job, so Jay called her in his office because the client was threatening to cancel because of her indecisiveness.  She wanted her father to tell her not to take the job, and Jay didn’t want to hold her back from an opportunity that she wanted. Of course he didn’t want her to leave. After he poured his heart out, Claire tried her best not to cry but when he called her Bunny (her childhood nickname) she lost and cried out loud. She will stay at her father’s company where she belongs.
