USA Network’s In Plain Sight Returns: New Night, Same Delightful Characters

By  |

USA Network’s In Plain Sight returns tonight and even though it’s on a new night, you can still expect to see the characters you have come to love over two seasons.

At the end of last season, we left U. S. Marshal Mary Shannon (Mary McMormack) in the hospital after being shot by a gang leader. Although Mary recovers, she has holes in her memory regarding that night, so she cannot identify the shooter. She also cannot stand another minute in the hospital. Her doctor releases her with strict instructions to remain quiet until she fully heals. Right.

Marshall (Frederick Weller) picks her up and brings her home to a newly remodeled house and a surprise party thrown together by her family. Just the thing Mary loves, right?

As the show continues, Marshall is revisiting an old case involving Jimmy (Donnie Wahlberg), a bad guy that Mary and Marshall had previously put into Witness Protection. Jimmy is one of those likable bad guys that turned his life around after going into WITSEC; getting married, opening a diner, and generally settling down. The past comes back to haunt him when a robbery takes place that has all the earmarks of Jimmy and the old gang.

More I will not say, you will have to tune in tonight, but here are some of the highlights that stuck with me:

  • Watch Marshall put the pressure on one gang leader as he continues his search for the one who shot Mary. Classic Marshall that will delight you.
  • Pay attention to Jinx (Leslie-Anne Warren)  as she confronts Mary about her job. I love watching this talented woman act. See if she doesn’t move you as well.
  • Stan (Paul Ben-Victor) has one shining moment in this episode that will leave you in stitches. I think he took a page out of Marshall’s book.
  • Brandi (Nichole Hiltz) is getting mysterious phone calls that have Peter (Josh Malina) worried.
  • Hilarious Mary/Marshall comes at the end of the show.

In Plain Sight premieres tonight at 10/9 central on USA. After the show, do come back and share your thoughts. I’d love to hear if whether your highlights were the same as mine or if you had others.
