THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: THE DAY I TRIED TO LIVE {RECAP}

By  |

I am so happy to say Bonnie is back! Yay! I’ve missed her.  I have to start by saying; can we please get a TVD 90’s soundtrack? They have played some serious jams this season and I have really enjoyed the music. I want a TVD 90’s mix! Anyway, it’s Bonnie’s birthday and she is all alone in 1994, but the present day gang wants to celebrate her birthday in her honor. Elena bought balloons and wanted to eat some of Bonnie’s favorite food and watch her favorite movies.

Liv was devastated because of Luke’s death. They were together her whole life and she didn’t know how to just be Liv without her twin. Tyler was there to support her with whatever she needed. Her plan was to kill Kai (even though it would kill her whole coven including herself and Jo).

Kai told Damon and Elena that he has been having feelings of empathy since the merge. He didn’t only get Luke’s magic; he got some of his good qualities too. He actually cried for the first time and felt bad for Jo! Shocker! Damon took advantage of his new feelings and convinced him to help them get a message to Bonnie.  Kai did a spell and they all (Damon, Elena, Jeremy, and Kai) got to Bonnie but she couldn’t hear or see them. She was watching videos of her and Damon. Damon saw that she was drinking the last bottle of bourbon, and knew she was thinking of killing herself. They had a pact that once that bottle was gone, they would kill themselves. No Bonnie!

Kai did a spell to send only Jeremy back to 1994 for Bonnie and it worked until Kai started bleeding because Liv stabbed him in the stomach. Her timing was horrible! Jeremy stopped Liv from killing him and they went back to 1994 only to find Bonnie crying. It was heartbreaking to see her ready to give up. She went in the garage and turned on the car to sit there and die. OMG! This was so incredibly emotional and what a performance by Kat Graham. I had goose bumps. Just as she decided to stay strong and live, she was too weak to turn off the car. After several tries, Jeremy miraculously hit the garage door opener which saved her life. Nice save Jeremy.

Enzo took Matt to meet the real Sarah Salvatore. He encouraged Matt to flirt with her. Enzo is definitely up to no good. We will have to stay tuned to see where this storyline goes. I kind of like the idea of an Enzo and Matt bromance.

It’s not over for Bonnie. She found the map Jeremy left for her (Damon left notes for her to go to Nova Scotia to get some magic back) and she got in the car and took off! Don’t count her out!

Favorite Quote– Kai said to Damon and Elena, “In case you haven’t figured it out by now… I’m a sociopath. I know, shocker.” Yeah, that is an understatement.

Steamy Moment of the night– After Elena realized that she didn’t want to live in the past anymore and that Damon was her future, she kissed him and jumped on him. They had sexy time and we were left with them snuggling in bed together. She always finds her way back to Damon and realized that was where she wanted to be.

Honorable Mentions:

  1. Stefan and Caroline were so cute together. His support of her improves every week and I thought they were going to kiss, but it didn’t happen. He helped her find Ms. Cuddles (Bonnie’s teddy bear) and he was there for her by letting her get her frustrations out. Steroline is seriously growing on me.
  2. Tyler broke up with Liv because she knocked him out to go kill Kai (which was also choosing her own death over him). That was a short lived relationship (no pun intended).
  3. Jeremy chose to move on with his life after saving Bonnie. He wants to go to art school (which means leaving Mystic Falls).

Fave Tweet of the night– Emma @egymnast10 : Bonnie always finding a way to love = my role model. #TVD
