What to Expect on TV in June (2013)

By  |

Can you guys believe that it is almost June? June, I say? Ahh! This year is going by so quickly and with the end of the 2012-2013 TV season that means summer programming is mere days away.

With that thought in mind, let’s take a look at the new programming (dramas only, mind you) that TV viewers can expect on the major and cable networks throughout June:

Mistresses

On June 3, the new ABC summer series Mistresses will debut at 10:01 PM. This series is based on the hit UK television series of the same name.

It will focus on the scandalous lives of a sexy and sassy group of four girlfriends, each on her own path to self-discovery: Savannah (Savi), a successful career woman working toward the next phase in her life, both professionally and personally; Savi’s free-spirited and capricious baby sister, Josslyn; their friends April, a recent widow and mother of a ten-year-old daughter and Karen, a therapist with her own thriving practice. These four friends find support and guidance with each other as they brave their turbulent journeys and life’s storms of excitement, secrecy and betrayal, all the while bound by the complex relationships they’ve created.

The cast includes Alyssa Milano (Charmed), Yunjin Kim (Lost), Rochelle Aytes (The Forgotten) and newcomer Jes Macallan.

The Fosters

Meanwhile over on ABC Family, the new drama The Fosters will debut at 9 PM.

This drama is about a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms.

The cast includes Teri Polo, Sherri Saum (In Treatment), Jake T. Austin (Wizards of Waverly Place), Hayden Byerly (Parenthood), David Lambert (Aaron Stone), newcomer Maia Mitchell (Teen Beach Movie), Danny Nucci and Cierra Ramirez (The Secret Life of the American Teenager).

Graceland

On June 6, the new series Graceland will debut on the USA Network at 10 PM.

The show is about a group of undercover agents from the FBI, DEA and US Customs who reside and operate under one roof.

The cast includes Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me), Aaron Tveit (Gossip Girl), Brandon Jay McLaren (The Killing and Falling Skies), Courtney B. Vance (FlashForward), Jay Karnes (Burn Notice), Scottie Thompson (NCIS) and Vanessa Ferlito (CSI: NY).

In The Flesh

That same night over on BBC America the 3-part mini-series In The Flesh will debut at 10 PM.

This mini deals with zombies being reintegrated into their living families and communities. Now called PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferers, zombie teenager Kieren Walker is dealing with the same problems fitting in as his living peers, plus a whole lot of scarier issues.

It will be a big night over on Syfy on June 8 when the cabler debuts two new shows: Sinbad at 9 PM and Primeval: New World at 10 PM.

Sinbad

Sinbad is a 12-episode series that will star Elliot Knight in the title role as Sinbad, tracking the sea-bound journey after he is forced to flee from this home town of Basra.

The series also stars Naveen Andrews (Lost) and guest stars include Dougray Scott, Sophie Okonedo and Timothy Spall.

Primeval: New World

Primeval: New World stars Niall Matter (Eureka), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) and Danny Rahim (Eastenders) as a team of animal experts and scientists investigating paranormal events, while battling both prehistoric and futuristic creatures.

King & Maxwell

On June 10, the new drama King & Maxwell will debut on TNT at 10 PM.

Jon Tenney (The Closer) and Rebecca Romijn (Eastwick) will star as the popular characters Sean King and Michelle Maxwell created by best-selling author David Baldacci, who are not your typical private investigators. They are both former Secret Service agents, and their unique skills give them a leg up on conventional law enforcement.

Twisted

The next night, June 11, will find the debut of the new ABC Family drama Twisted at 9 PM.

The series centers on a charismatic 16-year-old with a troubled past (Avan Jogia from Victorious), who has recently reconnected with his two female best friends from childhood (Maddie Hasson from The Finder and Kylie Bunbury from Prom); but he becomes the prime suspect when a fellow student is found dead in her home.

The cast includes Denise Richards and Sam Robards.

Devious Maids

Later in the month on June 23, the new drama Devious Maids will debut on Lifetime at 10 PM.

The series is about five maids with ambition and dreams of their own while working for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.

The cast includes Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty), Brett Cullen (Lost and Person of Interest), Dania Ramirez (Heroes), Drew Van Acker (Pretty Little Liars), Edy Ganem (Living Loud), Grant Show (Melrose Place), Judy Reyes (Scrubs), Mariana Klaveno (True Blood), Rebecca Wisocky (The Mentalist), Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace), Susan Lucci and Tom Irwin (Saving Grace).

Crossing Lines

That same night over on NBC, the new drama Crossing Lines will air its two-hour premiere at 9 PM.

The series taps into the charter of the International Criminal Court to investigate serialized cross-border crimes and to hunt down global criminals. The cast includes Donald Sutherland and William Fichtner (Prison Break) [among others].

NOTE: The show will then move to Sunday nights at 10 PM on June 30.

Under the Dome

Then on June 24, the new summer series Under the Dome will debut on CBS at 10 PM.

The series is based on the Stephen King best-selling novel about a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a massive transparent dome.

The cast includes Aisha Hinds (Cult), Britt Robertson (The Secret Circle and Life Unexpected), Colin Ford (Supernatural), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Jolene Purdy (Gigantic), Mike Vogel (Pan Am), Natalie Martinez (CSI: NY), Nicholas Strong (Nashville), Rachelle Lefevre (Twilight franchise) and Jeff Fahey (Lost).

Ray Donovan

Lastly, on June 30, the new Showtime drama Ray Donovan will debut at 10 PM.

Liev Schreiber appears as Ray Donovan, LA’s best professional fixer, who is the man called in to make the city’s celebrities, superstar athletes’ and business moguls’ most complicated and combustible situations go away; but when his father, Mickey Donovan (Jon Voight) is unexpectedly released from prison, that sets off a chain of events that shakes the Donovan family to its core.

The cast also includes Dash Mihok (The Day After Tomorrow), Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes), Katherine Moennig (Three Rivers), Paula Malcomson (Caprica), Peter Jacobson (House) and Steven Bauer.
