MODERN FAMILY: Yard Sale Recap

The whole family is having a yard sale to raise money for Unicef, but according to Luke it is to raise more money than Ms. Cooper’s class so they can win a pizza and a pool party. Manny found a case in the attic and put it out to sell. Gloria took one look at it and told him it was from Columbia and going back in the attic and he should not ask her anything else about it. Luke thinks there is a human head in there, what a creative child he is.

Jay wants to sell his motorcycle since he has a baby on the way. He asks Phil if he is interested and he says Claire won’t let him have one, which isn’t true. Claire has no problem with him having a motorcycle; in fact she thinks it is sexy. The real issue is that Phil is terrified of motorcycles. He is pressured to take it for a test ride and goes along with it to prove he is a man. After being on the bike for awhile he forgets his fear and stops to enjoy the view of the open road. All is well until he tries to start the bike and loses balance and the bike falls on his leg. Looks like Phil is stuck.

Alex’s boyfriend (who took her to the prom last year) comes over and Claire is 100% sure he is gay. She doesn’t want to see Alex get her heart broken. She talked to Cam and Mitch and they agreed he is gay. She wants them to talk to Alex.  Cam tries to talk to her, but she sees right through it and tells Claire she knows what she thinks of Michael and she didn’t have to bring in her big gay guns to prove her point. Hilarious!

Manny and Luke get the mystery case from the attic and when they open it, they find a puppet. Gloria admits that she was traumatized in a pageant (that she won) when she was younger. She had a puppet routine when for her talent but froze when it was her turn to perform. She was humiliated and hasn’t talked about it since.

Alex decided to just come out and ask Michael if he was gay. When she did he got very defensive and told her that he must be straight because he kissed her and she is a girl. Then he told her he needed a moment.

Luke tells Gloria that Manny is sad because he talks about how fearless his mother is all the time and it was hard for him to see her afraid of something.  He apologized for snooping around the attic, but what he said got to Gloria. She wanted Manny to respect her and she wanted to respect herself. Then Luke admitted that he knows how to push buttons to get what he wants, and what he wanted was a puppet show.

Phil finally returns from his bike ride with the entire leg of jeans ripped off. He told Claire he doesn’t love it and he will not be buying the motorcycle.  He looked ridiculous!

Alex and Michael made up and it looks like she will have this gay boyfriend for awhile, but at least we know she will get a great flower arrangement from him. Cam’s words not mine.

Gloria comes outside with her puppet, Uncle Grumpy, and put on a funny show that the whole family enjoyed. Way to face your fears Gloria!

Modern Family airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on ABC.
