THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: All My Children Recap
After calling Stefan with no answer, then getting brushed off by Damon, Elena heads over to the Salvatore’s just in time to see Rebekah leaving in her night clothes looking rather satisfied with herself (I’d be looking satisfied too after a night with Damon).
Elena tells the Salvatore’s about Esther’s plan to kill all of her children, expressing her concern for Elijah. Damon and Stefan think Ester’s plan is the best way to kill Klaus and have no problem with Elijah being killed as well. Elena turns to Bonnie, only to find out that she and her mother will be helping Esther carry out the plan that night because it is a full moon. That means Esther will have the power to complete her goal of killing her children all at once (ah…motherly love).
Elijah knows something is fishy. He has been suspicious of his mother’s intentions all along so he pays Elena a visit. He tells her that he wants to show her something and she agrees to go with him. He takes her into the woods around the Lockwood caves and tells her that he knows she lied to him about Esther’s intentions. She feels bad and reveals that the witch is planning to kill her children. She apologizes and says she wishes there is something she could do to help. Elijah then opens a hole in the ground and drops Elena inside (maybe she will think twice about following an original in the woods in the future).
Elijah rushes over to the Elena saving Salvatore’s, where he tells them that they have to stop his mother and if they don’t, Rebekah will kill Elena. The only way to put a stop to the spell is to break the Bennett bloodline by killing Bonnie, her mother, or both of them. Elijah gives them until 9:06pm (clearly precision is important) to complete this task or Elena will die.
Alaric is at the bar with Dr. Fell (who I still don’t trust) and Klaus and Kol are also there having drinks. Caroline walks in and Klaus invites her to have a drink with them. She declines and leaves. He follows her into the parking lot and asks her to get to know him. She sits down on the bench and they talk (even though she is basically there to distract Klaus). Caroline appears to be warming up to him although she tries to fight it (I really like them together! Team CaroKlaus!).
Kol repeatedly flirts with Dr. Fell even though she has told him to leave her alone. As part of Damon and Stefan’s plan, Alaric daggers Kol and each of his siblings were immediately affected by it. Klaus rushes away from Caroline, takes the stake out of Kol and Alaric gets banged up in the process. The Salvatore’s alternate plan (to get rid of the Original siblings to avoid killing Bonnie and her mother) failed. Elijah demands that the brothers tell them where the witches are and he uses Elena’s life as bait again (of course).
While Rebekah was unconscious from Kol’s staking, Elena snuck past her and went into the vampire free cave with the cave paintings. Since Rebekah can’t follow her in, she throws lighter fluid all over her and the ground around her and threatens to light it up if she doesn’t come out. Elena talks her way out of a fiery death for now.
Damon and Stefan ponder their next move knowing Elena will never forgive them if they kill Bonnie or her mother. Damon flips a coin to see who has to do the dirty work but we don’t know who loses.
The original siblings are approaching Esther and she quickly sends Bonnie and her mother inside the house. Then Esther and Finn (the only Original sibling who’s in on her plan and willing to be her sacrifice) are facing Klaus, Elijah and Kol.
Meanwhile, Bonnie heads into the basement and finds Stefan waiting for her. He tells her that if they don’t put a stop to Esther’s plan, Elena will die. The only way to stop her is to break the Bennett bloodline. Bonnie thinks that Stefan’s going to kill her, but Damon has another plan. He grabs Abby and instead of killing her, he turns her into a vampire (poor Bonnie).
Abby can’t be a witch and a vampire, so once she was no longer human, Esther’s spell was broken. In the cave, Rebekah tells Elena about Abby and that she’s free to go. She also says she would rather watch Elena suffer than kill her (I would not want to be on Rebekah’s bad side).
We find out that Stefan lost the coin toss, but Damon did the dirty work to spare Stefan the guilt. Damon can see that Stefan is slowly becoming his old self. Damon said he’s better at being the bad guy anyway (I sure do love a naughty Damon).
Rebekah approaches Klaus (who is burning drawings of Caroline) and we learn that they are the only members of the Original Family left in Mystic Falls. Then Rebekah tells Klaus that when Elena was in the cave, she noticed a message in the paintings. She showed him a picture of the message that shows that there is a white oak tree somewhere, and that tree has the power to kill Original vampires.
Alaric is at Dr. Fell’s apartment recovering from his scuffle at the bar. He wakes up in the middle of the night and goes to the kitchen to get some pain medicine only to find that she has records about Caroline’s father on her counter (I knew something was up with her). He also found a dagger (the same kind that the mystic falls murderer has been using). He looks up to see Dr. Fell pointing a gun at him. “You weren’t supposed to see that,” she said, and then she shot him (talk about a cliffhanger).
What did you think of this episode? Let me know in the comment section below. Do you still think Caroline and Klaus have a chance? What is psycho Dr. Fell up to? Do you think Good Stefan is back? How is Bonnie going to cope with her mom being a vampire? What is going to happen with Alaric? So many questions! One question I have for the CW, why do we have to wait until March 15th for the next new episode? I don’t want to wait that long! Sigh. Man I love this show.
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday Nights at 8/7c on the CW.
