April TV Calendar

Here is what you can look forward to seeing on the major and cable channels throughout April, including new and returning shows as well as made-for-TV movies:

April 1 – The new Starz series Camelot will debut at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: This 10 episode series is a fresh approach on the telling of the King Arthur story, starring Joseph Fiennes (FlashForward) as the wizard Merlin, Eva Green as Morgana, Jamie Campbell Bower as Arthur and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.

April 1 – The new CBS series Chaos will debut at 8 PM

Show Synopsis: This a new comedic drama about a group of rogue CIA spies in the Clandestine Administration and Oversight Services, starring Freddy Rodriguez, Eric Close, Tim Blake Nelson, James Murray, Kurtwood Smith, Carmen Ejogo and Christina Cole.

April 3 – The new Showtime series The Borgias will have its 2-hour debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: Jeremy Irons stars as the Spanish patriarch Rodrigo Borgia, who bribed his way into the top job at the Vatican in 1492.

April 3 – The new AMC series The Killing will have its 2-hour debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: The series tells the story of the murder of a young girl in Seattle and the subsequent police investigation. The series stars Mireille Enos (Big Love), Billy Campbell (Once and Again), Michelle Forbes (True Blood) and Brent Sexton (W. and In the Valley of Elah).

April 3 – The 8-part mini-series The Kennedy’s will start tonight on Reelz Channel

MINI-SERIES SYNOPSIS: Greg Kinnear stars as John F. Kennedy, Barry Pepper as Robert F. Kennedy, Katie Holmes as Jacqueline Kennedy and Tom Wilkinson as Joseph Kennedy Sr. in a story about the history behind the Kennedy family and their history in politics.

April 4 – NBC will air the season finale of Harry’s Law at 10 PM

April 6 – Season 2 of the former FX series Damages will be reaired on DirecTV at 10 PM

April 7 – The Vampire Diaries and Nikita will be back with all new episodes on the CW starting tonight at 8 and 9 PM

April 9 – The Syfy move Ferocious Planet debuts tonight at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: An experimental device enabling viewing of alternate dimensions goes haywire on its first test, dragging the entire test lab (and its occupants) into a dangerous alternate universe. Led by a resourceful Colonel and a tough female scientist, they have to figure out how to get home. The film stars Joe Flanigan (Stargate Atlantis) and John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings).

April 10 – The ABC Family Channel movie My Future Boyfriend will debut at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: P-A-X-497/431, aka Pax (Barry Watson from 7th Heaven and What About Brian) is a young man from the well-ordered but loveless future who travels to present day New Orleans in search of romance novelist Elizabeth Barrett (Sara Rue from Eastwick) – whose book he came upon during an archeological dig in the year 3125. Pax hopes she can explain the concept of love to him, which is now nonexistent in this time. The movie co-stars Valerie Harper and Fred Willard.

April 10 – A new version of Upstairs Downstairs will air on your local PBS station over the course of the next 3 Sundays (April 10, April 17 and April 24) [check local listings for airtimes]

Mini-Series Synopsis: Returning to 165 Eaton Place, the venerable classic movie is being given a time-warp leap into the 1930’s with a new family moving in after years of vacancy and neglect with a fresh staff of colorful servants to assemble.

April 11 – A newly revamped Law & Order: Los Angeles will be re-launched on NBC with a two-hour episode at 9 PM before moving to its regular timeslot on Mondays at 10 PM the following week.

April 15 – New episodes of Sanctuary will start airing tonight at 10 PM on Syfy

April 15 – Friday Night Lights will return for its final season on NBC at 8 PM

April 15 – Smallville and Supernatural will be back with all new episodes on the CW at 8 and 9 PM

April 15 – The Disney Channel movie called Lemonade Mouth (based on the book of the same name by Mark Peter Hughes) will debut at 8 PM.

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie focuses on an unlikely ensemble of five students – Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini and Charlie – who, after meeting in detention, gradually realize their shared musical connection and belief that it’s time for the students of Mesa High to stand up and be heard on things big and small. Ultimately, as they open up to each other and form friendships, they start a band — Lemonade Mouth –that soon resonates with students sidelined by the high school elite. However, not everyone in the school is ready to cheer them on, especially since the popular rock group Mudslide Crush is determined to maintain their headline status and win the coveted Rising Star music competition at Mesa High. The movie stars Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Hayley Kiyoko, Naomi Scott and newcomer Blake Michael. Co-stars include Tisha Campbell-Martin and Christopher McDonald.

April 16 – The movie Truth Be Told will debut on FOX at 8 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Annie Morgan (Candace Cameron Bure) is a marriage counselor who – fearing her single status will ruin her chance at a dream job hosting a radio advice program – conspires with an old college friend (David James Elliott), a recent widower with two teenagers, to pass as a married couple after her potential boss (Ronny Cox) invites them to spend the weekend at his New Mexico ranch.

April 17 – The new HBO series Game of Thrones will debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: Based on the best-selling novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, the show follows an epic struggle for power among noble families vying for control of the Iron Throne in the lands of Westeros. The film stars Sean Bean, Mark Addy, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldou.

April 17 – The special two-hour prequel movie Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe will air on the USA Network at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The prequel film takes place in Columbia 2005 when Lieutenant Commander Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell) is sent to advise a local military platoon. It is there he discovers deep layers of deception and ultimately realizes he may be allied with the wrong side. The film also stars RonReaco Lee (The Good Guys), Kiele Sanchez (The Glades), John Diehl (Stargate) and Chandra West (The Gates).

April 18 – The Lifetime movie William & Kate will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie chronicles the story of the royal couple starring Nico Evers-Swindell (NCIS: Los Angeles and Law & Order) as Prince William and Camilla Luddington (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and The Defenders) as Kate Middleton. The film also stars Ben Cross, Serena Scott-Thomas, Richard Reid and Victoria Tennant.

April 19 – Parenthood will air its season finale at 10 PM on NBC.

April 23 – The HBO mini-series Cinema Veritae will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Another HBO movie Cinema Verite, which is to debut in April, tells the behind-the-scenes story of the groundbreaking documentary “An American Family,” which chronicled the lives of the Louds in the early 1970s and catapulted the Santa Barbara family to notoriety while creating a new television genre: the reality TV series. The cast includes Diane Lane, Tim Robbins, James Gandolfini, Patrick Fugit, Kathleen Quinlan, Lolita Davidovich, Shanna Collins and Thomas Dekker.

April 23 – Roadkill, the Syfy movie, will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Six young friends on a road trip in Ireland run afoul of gypsies who curse them for accidentally running down an old woman. The curse takes the form of a terrifying flying beast that tries killing them all. The film stars Stephen Rea (The Crying Game).

April 23 – Doctor Who will be back on BBC America with a two-part episode starting at 9 PM

NEWLY ADDED:
April 23 – Chase will begin airing five new episodes starting tonight at 8 PM on NBC; the remaining episodes are expected to air each Saturday night thereafter

April 24 – The Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Beyond the Blackboard will air on CBS at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: This film is inspired by the true story of a 24-year-old first-time teacher (Emily VanCamp from Brothers & Sisters and Everwood) who overcomes her initial fears and prejudices, making a difference in the lives of the homeless children she teaches in a shelter’s makeshift classroom. Treat Williams (VanCamp’s former cast mate from Everwood) and Tim Busfield (thirtysomething) co-star.

April 24 – Treme will be back with a new season on HBO at 10 PM
