THE ROOKIE Roundtable: Free Fall
The Rookie was back with a new episode this week, focusing on:
In the Season 1 finale, the rookies prepare for a big exam to see who moves on to the next stage of training. Officer Nolan and Officer Bishop are called to the scene of a murder and learn that the victim may be tied to a potential terrorist attack on the city of Los Angeles.
Let’s dig into the episode with our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):
STUPID
Roz: That IA woman was pretty stupid for thinking that she could get anyone to turn on the Mid-Wilshire, especially Bishop. Good on Bishop for going to Commander West with the details.
Leah:I actually liked this episode overall so the stupid for me is going to be me just saying….why couldn’t it have been West who got sick he almost died. Not Bradford! I could have done without the death scene in the house as well. Blech.
Rueben: The only thing that was stupid to me in the episode were those two would-be thieves at the food truck at the very beginning of the episode.
AWESOME
Roz: Bradford’s decision to put himself above his boot was great – and shows what level of commitment he has to being a great cop who will minimize potential damage. Felicia Day was also a great guest, but I wish she had been able to do more.
Leah:Bradford closing the door on Chen. I don’t ship them but I do love how Bradford is a caring…..dick. He is a good guy with some serious rough edges and I love it.
Rueben: I have to agree, Bradford really stood out in this episode. And can I just say Felicia Day!!! I love that this show has gotten so many terrific guest stars.
SO-SO
Roz: Let’s just say that Russo’s choice was poor and leave it at that.
Leah:Really Russo? Shooting the guy. Nolan is all about talking people down and using his words for a good outcome. If this is picked up that will not sit well with him.
Rueben: Yeah, I have to question what Jessica did too the same way Nolan was questioning it. Knowing what we know about him, Nolan isn’t going to let this go at all.
YOUR THOUGHTS
Roz: This has been a good show, but there are days when I question the overall bigger story
Leah: This wasn’t a consistent season and I have some general complaints, but overall I think there were more good than bad episodes and I’d love for it to come back for a second season.
Rueben: I have to agree with you, Leah. The season has been hit or miss with perhaps too many misses and not enough hits, but I want to see it continue for at least another season, as I care about the characters and enjoy the show – when it’s good.
