Blindspot Roundtable: The Night of the Dying Breath

By  |

This week’s Blindspot focused on:

The team races against the clock to save Jane from a killer’s nightmarish scheme.

Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Leah: The lawyer was just…..I can’t even put it into words. We can’t be done with him, yet.

Roz: Madeline, what is with your lawyer? Are you happy with one who acts that dumb most of the time or is that for the ruse of what we saw at the end?

Rueben: I kept wondering when the good ole boy act by Madeline’s attorney was going to wear off and it was going to be revealed he was even worse than her. That might not have been the case, but I don’t think we’re done with him yet; and I still think he’s far more than a slick Southern-accented attorney.

Cay: He was SO annoying, but I think it’s a well-honed act to seem folksy by a diabolical psychopath – he didn’t even drop it immediately at the end. But when it did slip…that part of the plot twist was actually cool – would have been even better if they had caught Dominic and thought everything all wrapped up with a bow, and then the lawyer is in charge. Maybe that is where we are going next?

AWESOME

Leah: You know why you get your comments in first? Because otherwise people get your thoughts out first. See below!

Roz: I’m all for the team getting ish done for Jane locked in a coffin.

Rueben: I thought hot wiring the phone battery with the underwires from Jane’s bra and the flashlight battery was pretty damn cool. And, the fact that the team didn’t give up looking for her with that short timeframe in which to find her was pretty intense. [At least this time it wasn’t a bomb threat, right?!]

Cay: haha, Rueben, that was my first thought when I was watching – no bombs! The “buried alive race against the clock” certainly isn’t a new plot line for this type of show (Bones did it famously), but it was exciting anyway, even though you knew Jane wouldn’t die. It produced nice tension within the team and also was good for some  “holy crap what would I do” thoughts and ethical debate – you *know* that freeing Madeline is a very bad idea, no matter what the reason. It’s a variation of the trolley car problem…(see The Good Place …)

SO SO

Leah: Madeline is lingering longer than ZIP poisoning!!!

Cay: I think her plot is more interesting than ZIP…although the whole idea that it would end up being their word against hers was ridiculous – they have all kinds of evidence.

Roz: Another plan for Madeline? Why is she still not going quietly into this good nice?!

Rueben: I’m SO tired of Madeline. I think I said that before in fact. When can that be done. I’d rather have the bomb threat of the week storyline than all these twists and turns with Madeline, and I think we all hate the bomb threat storylines.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz: What is this plot going to yield now? She’s got so many plans I think she’d be the perfect evil mastermind for a Leverage episode.

Rueben: Roz, you’ve got a good point. I’d love it if they fully trick Madeline into thinking she’s free and clear, setting her up just like the Leverage team would set her up. That would be a blast to watch. Get her to the point where she can do anything she wants, and then pull the rug out from under her. What in the world is with the bees in next week’s episode? Yuck!!

Cay: At least no bombs…I’m curious to see how they make that work! And I’m expecting some buzzing awesome Rich bee puns! On an unrelated note, they need another excuse to bring Roman (Luke Mitchell) back – I miss him!
