We had the chance to interview Stephen Huszar who is staring in the Hallmark original “A Homecoming for the Holidays”.

“A Homecoming for the Holidays” follows country singer Charlotte (Laura Osnes), who is home for the holidays and her brother’s fellow ex-soldier Matt, played by Huszar, who is also in town. Writing her new album and hoping to find inspiration, Charlotte works with Matt to build a house for a friend in town.

What can you tell us about your character Matt in “Homecoming for the Holidays”?
Matt is a military officer who has a chance encounter with a budding country music singer named Charlotte, played by Laura Osnes, the day he’s being deployed to Afghanistan. The story picks up 3 years later in the same town they met, and Matt is now heading up a volunteer initiative called “Operation Homefront” that provides housing and living assistance to military families. Charlotte, now a famous country music star, returns to her hometown where Matt is now stationed and they build a special bond during the height of her stardom.

Hallmark pulls in so many different actors these days – is there a person you haven’t gotten to star with that you would love to do a Hallmark movie with?
Well I certainly wouldn’t say no if Hallmark was able to get Margot Robbie to do a movie for them!

So many actors are multi-hyphenate – is there a chance you will be directing in the future?
Right now I’m very happy with my acting and producing career, but we’ll see what the future brings!

Hallmark to Horror is quite a jump – tell us about your upcoming project Rabid.
Yes it sure is! “Rabid” is a remake of the 1977 classic film by David Cronenberg. It centers around the character of Rose, played by Laura Vandervoort, who undergoes radical stem cell surgery after a horrific car accident that leaves her terribly disfigured. I play the character of Dominic, a daytime TV star who has a romantic encounter with Rose at the stem-cell treatment center. Shorty after their encounter, Dominic starts to develop flu-like symptoms that escalates into something much worse.

The trailer to Rabid can be found here.

It’s the holidays and people are generally just more generous around this time – is there a charity you’d like us to shout out?
Yes, Operation Homefront! It’s the actual charity that we reference in the film. It’s a national charity that provides housing and living assistance to military families so they can thrive in the communities they worked so hard to protect.
