Women of the Week

By  |

With the 2017-2018 TV season starting to wind down, the stakes have never been higher. Who have we selected as our latest Women of the Week? Read on to find out!

Nominated by Ange: Lexa Doig as Deann Anderson on The Arrangement

Deann has always been a strong woman but during Sunday’s season finale, she showed what she was truly capable of when she revealed to her husband Terrence that Megan was her Kyle and that she had not only played him into thinking that she was on his side but now it was her and Megan’s turn to become the new powerhouse team in Hollywood – a play that she had been putting into place from the moment Megan auditioned with Kyle in the show’s pilot! Wowzers. I was totally cheering over this reveal and props to Deann for being so calculating and patient. I’m really hoping that this plan follows through and doesn’t end up backfiring on either of the ladies. I also love that Megan’s agent Leslie is going to be a part of this partnership too. Now if we can just have an announcement that the show has been picked up for Season 3…

Nominated by Melissa: Meghan Markle

She was probably the most-watched woman on television this week as this former actress became a princess*. Meghan Markle’s wedding to England’s Prince Harry was a global event, following a courtship and engagement that was somehow both very public and intensely private. This couple has been different than previous royals from the start – partially because Meghan is, in fact, an American. Through all the scrutiny and headlines, they have presented a united front on behalf of causes they hold near and dear, working to benefit others while showing us how much they love each other. Meghan has navigated the global public interest in her and her life with grace and charm, so that when she kissed her new husband on the steps of St. George’s Chapel, it was basically the culmination of a beautiful fairy tale. The best part? That was just the first season of the Meghan and Harry Show. Now we get to see what Meghan can do with the backing of one of the most powerful families in the world. I’m looking forward to season 2!

*I know her official title is the Duchess of Sussex, but just as the Duchess of Cambridge is referred to popularly as Princess Kate, Meghan will be Princess Meghan.

Ange is the Girl from Oz who travelled the States. Teen dramas, rom-comedies and superhero shows are her weakness. She also loves a good crime and medical drama and probably watches more TV than she can handle... You can contact her at ange@nicegirlstv.com.
