LUCIFER Roundtable: A Devil of My Word

By  |

Lucifer ended it’s run after three seasons this week and while we have had some mixed feelings about the show as of late the finale episode really delivered.

Maze and Linda made up.
Cay: This was nice to see. The way Maze fought to get to Linda is refreshing after she has been so downright…evil…lately. Not sure why Dr. Linda’s other patient didn’t call the cops, but…
Lisa: I know! What the hell was up with the patient? I was cracking up when Dr. Linda said “I’ll see you next week?” Ummm…no! lol Anyway, it was nice that they finally made up because they dragged it on way too long.
Karen: Good thing too. Although she has a lot of other people to apologise to. Thank goodness they added this part into the finale, or I’d have thrown a FIT.
Melissa: That was good to see, although I wish it had happened a little earlier in the season.

Chloe finally FINALLY saw what who Lucifer is.
Cay: Yeah, seeing the devil face before the wings is suboptimal. But while that must be a tremendous shock, I think she also realizes that he saved her life (multiple times!). I’d like to think that she comes to grips with it, much like Dr. Linda has. This is, of course, assuming that he can now undo his devil face…seeing that all the time instead of just once could complicate matters.
Lisa: Finally! Wow. What a way to see the truth. There is no denying that face. Chloe has a lot to process, I just hope we get the chance to see what happens next. Damn you Fox! #SaveLucifer
Karen: OMG FINALLY! There’s no denying that she had no idea until the very end that she didn’t know his true identity. We have to have more. I don’t understand how Lucifer was cancelled for realsies. Of course this is the same network that cancelled B99 and allowed NBC to pick up that gem, so…
Melissa: I’m glad she realized Lucifer was telling the truth before seeing his devil face. She did know the truth and willfully chose to ignore it, which you know I found really frustrating, but I’m glad she admitted as much. I just wish we got to see the aftermath.

Pierce is finally FINALLY gone.
Cay: Is he? I would have liked him to disappear or crumble into pieces ala Avengers Infinity War so we know he’s actually gone.
Lisa: Spoiler Alert on Avengers! lol I don’t know. I feel like they could always revisit his character. Is anyone really gone forever on these shows?
Karen: He’s gone. Luci got his devil face back, and that’s a pretty decent confirmation for me. The vindictiveness in that last speech is what brought the face back out, and condemning him to hell sealed the duality of his nature. I’m not sure that his wings will heal either. Not that we’ll find out. DAMN YOU FOX! #SaveLucifer
Melissa: BOY BYE.

Do you like how things came together?
Cay: It wrapped up much of the big plot issues (and the stuff that was annoying us) of the season, yet added the new dimension of Chloe FINALLY knowing
Lisa: It was a good end to the season, but not for a series finale. Somebody needs to pick up this show and give a proper ending. It is too good of a show to end on a cliffhanger like that. Again…Boooooo Fox!
Karen: Yes, I do. I would’ve missed Charlotte, but I’m glad she was the conduit to Pierce getting caught out. Honestly, I know it’s a cliffhanger, but if I *have* to deal with this as the real ending, I’ll be okay. Chloe knows, Maze is the old Maze, and Pierce is gone. There are definitely plot points that I’d love to see finished up, so let’s push for more. Dumbest cancellation this season for sure.
Melissa: Yes, but I wish this has been the mid-season finale instead of the season finale. The Pierce/Sinnerman plotline ran on too long and didn’t have enough heft to sustain a full season, plus we could have had a second half of the season with Chloe reconciling the fact that Lucifer has been honest with her this whole time!

Hoping for a fourth season? Or a wrap up mini movie or…..
Cay: If this is all we get, I’ll definitely miss it! This season has been hit or miss for me, but it’s still one of the few shows that I’ve kept up with this season. I started watching a bunch, but just got bored with many of my old stalwarts. Lucifer has always been a great Monday night guilty pleasure.
Lisa: I think my stance is pretty clear, but in case it’s not…I’m pissed Fox cancelled this show! There is so much crap on TV and this was a well-written, witty guilty pleasure and I refuse to believe that it is over. I really hope another network picks it up.
Karen: If you can’t tell from my other comments, hell yes I want something more. They’ve apparently filmed a couple more episodes (Kevin Alejandro directed one of them), so releasing those would be a good start. A movie would also be good – at least to tie up the loose ends. Fox is dumb. #SaveLucifer.
Melissa: Listen, I’d like another season of Lucifer but only if we get back to the original quality. This season was a stinker for me, and even with a decent season finale, I’m not willing to forgive how unevenly plotted, paced, and written it was.

Anything else you want to talk about (I mean the fight scene was something!)
Cay: Maze is so badass! And has anybody ever wondered where Luci learned to fight? The wings as combat tools was kind of weird, but the knife fight was pretty cool.
Lisa: Luci’s wings protecting Chloe was pretty awesome. This was a great episode!
Karen: OMG THAT FIGHT SCENE! Fighting with wings is the TEETS. The knife fight was good as well, and the fact that it ended with the crunchy wrist break and Pierce’s death was the bow on top. Ella being on Team Luci immediately was also amazing seeing as she was super into Pierce in the beginning, so I’m glad that they had everyone on board with the plan.
Melissa: Lucifer the Avenging Angel was rad! I’ve been waiting this since season 1!
