Last spring we had a taste of the fourth addition to Dick Wolf’s ONE CHICAGO franchise, Chicago Justice, with an episode of Chicago P.D. acting as the backdoor pilot for the new show. Before the series officially begins on NBC this coming Sunday at 9/8c, we’ll be introduced to the characters and the Justice world in an epic ONE CHICAGO crossover tonight, kicking off with Chicago Fire on a special night and time of 8/7c and continuing straight into P.D. at 8/9c. Since a few things have change since we originally previewed Chicago Justice last year, here’s a quick guide before tonight’s much anticipated event…

In the city of Chicago, the State Attorney’s team of dedicated prosecutors and investigators work hard to pursue justice for its citizens, often navigating against city politics, power struggles within the system, public outcry and frenzied media attention. At the center of it all in this new drama is Deputy Chief of the Special Prosecutions Bureau, Peter Stone (played by Strike Back‘s Phillip Winchester). Not content with just creating characters in the established ONE CHICAGO world, the show has also given Stone a backstory in Dick Wolf’s other hit franchise, Law & Order – he is the son of New York District Attorney Ben Stone. Peter Stone can be relentless in his pursuit for justice, sometimes putting him at odds with colleague and Cook County State’s Attorney, Mark Jeffries (played by Carl Weathers from the Rocky films). At the end of the day though, these two work together along with their team to try and get justice for the city of Chicago.

Part of that team is Assistant State’s Attorney Anna Valdez (played by Monica Barbaro, most recently seen in UnREAL), who is a new face to fans of the ONE CHICAGO franchise. She is passionate about the work that she does and is willing to bend the rules to achieve results.

Adding to the world of strong women in the ONE CHICAGO franchise is State’s Attorney Investigator Laura Nagel (played by Justified‘s Joelle Carter). She is tough-as-nails and her role on this team is to see each case through the eyes of the victim.

Rounding out the State’s Attorney’s team and Chicago Justice main cast is someone who is no stranger to fans of the ONE CHICAGO world, Antonio Dawson (played by Jon Seda). Antonio left Chicago P.D.’s Intelligence unit earlier this season after Peter Stone offered him the role of Chief Investigator. Seeing this as an opportunity for more regular hours and a chance to spend more time with his kids, Antonio accepted the position, but not before thinking it over carefully and discussing the offer with his sister, Chicago Fire‘s Gabriela Dawson.

Throughout the series you can expect a lot of familiar faces from the ONE CHICAGO world to pop up in episodes, but what is also cool is that you’ll also see characters from Law & Order from time to time. In the series premiere on Sunday, Richard Brooks’s Paul Robinette appears and we hear that Tovah Feldshuh will reprise her role of Danielle Melnick, who has now moved up the ranks to judge on the new series.

Don’t miss the epic ONE CHICAGO crossover event tonight with Chicago Fire at the special night and time of 8/7c, then Chicago P.D. at the special time of 9/8c. Then Chicago Med airs Thursday at 9/8c, before Chicago Justice officially premieres on Sunday at 9/8c. All four shows air on NBC.
