ONE CHICAGO Women: Chicago Fire 5×09, Chicago P.D. 4×09, 4×10 & Chicago Med 2×09 recap

By  |

A crossover, double dose of P.D. and the return of all three ONE CHICAGO show this week, you can bet there was a lot of drama between Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med. Read on to find out what the leading ladies of the ONE CHICAGO world got up to this week…

CHICAGO FIRE — “Some Make It, Some Don’t” Episode 509 — Pictured: (l-r) Monica Raymund as Gabriela Dawson, Jesse Spencer as Matthew Casey — (Photo by: Parrish Lewis/NBC)

Gabriela Dawson: Following on from the fall finale bombshell that Louie’s bio-dad has emerged, Dawson and Casey seek to find out what their rights are and if the bio-dad has any standing. Unfortunately it’s not all good news. After consulting with a lawyer, whilst Casey and Dawson may now be married, their application to adopt Louie together has not been approved yet and so the case still views Dawson as a single mother. After a rough start (and who can blame them – the dude was stalking Dawson and Casey before they found out who he was!), Dawson agrees to sit down with Andre, the bio-dad, to find out his intentions. It turns out that he didn’t even know Louie existed until recently and now wants his son. They arrange for Louie to meet him, but when the time comes Andre never shows. Something tells me that this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him though.

Sylvie Brett: While being supportive of her partner and friend Dawson, Brett also reveals that the Louie situation hits a little too close to home for her as she is adopted. While she has never met her bio-parents, Brett confesses that she’s always wondered why they’ve never tried to find her or want to meet her. Brett’s revelation gives Dawson something to think about when deciding whether to keep Louie away from Andre or not.

CHICAGO FIRE — “Some Make It, Some Don’t” Episode 509 — Pictured: (l-r) Miranda Rae Mayo as Stella Kidd, David Eigenberg as Christopher Herrmann — (Photo by: Parrish Lewis/NBC)

Stella Kidd: When the Truck guys discover a discarded ping pong table while out on a call and bring it back to 51, Kidd gets a first hand look at how ridiculously competitive the guys can be. Something that didn’t work out all too well during a mysterious incident in 2009 that no one will tell her about. Also this week, Kidd is touched when Severide casually tells her that he’s listed her as his emergency contact for the bone marrow procedure and takes it upon on herself to be the most supportive emergency contact ever. However, when Severide is unreachable the day before his procedure, Kidd is genuinely worried and even moreso when she realises that it’s Severide’s totalled car on the scene that they are called to.

CHICAGO P.D. — “Don’t Bury The Case” Episode 409 — Pictured: Sophia Bush as Erin Lindsay — (Photo by: Matt Dinerstein/NBC)

Erin Lindsay: We first see Lindsay this week on Fire when she bumps into Severide at Molly’s. It’s been awhile since the ex-lovers have seen each other and she tells him that it’s a great thing he’s doing donating his bone marrow and that he and Kidd should double date with her and Halstead sometime. Little does Lindsay know, she’ll be seeing Severide a lot sooner than she thinks when Intelligence get called to a hit and run and it initially looks like the firefighter is the main suspect. Severide may not remember what he got up to the night before but Lindsay is convinced that he didn’t do it, even if her partner and boyfriend is skeptical. As well as proving Severide’s innocence, Lindsay also has to deal with her estranged father being in town and wanting to meet her. For years she had thought he was in prison, but instead he turned his life around and even has a new family of his own but wants to make things up to her. Although guarded at first, Lindsay ends up having dinner with him, her mother and Halstead and decides that if this happy families scenario really is a fantasy, she wants to live it a little while longer. After everything she has been through, who can blame her?

CHICAGO P.D. — Pictured: (l-r) Marina Squerciati as Kim Burgess, Elias Coteas as Alvin Olinsky — (Photo by: Elizabeth Sisson/NBC)

Kim Burgess: After years of hard work, Burgess has finally made it up to Intelligence and in her own right, but it looks like not everyone is pleased to have her up there – namely her new partner Olinsky (he thinks the job will crush her but she’s determined to proove him wrong) and former fiance Ruzek, who conveniently goes on an undercover assignment. With Voight referring to new guy Kenny Rixton as “Ruzek’s replacement”, we’re wondering whether Ruzek will ever have to deal with working with Burgess ever again if he even has a spot to come back to. Did we mention that also Platt isn’t exactly thrilled that Burgess has ditched patrol in pursuit of moving up the ranks? She goes begrudgingly help Burgess out though.

Trudy Platt: When Severide is held at District 21, Platt’s husband Mouch comes down as his “union rep” and demands to see him. When Platt refuses, Mouch threatens not to come later that evening and in a rare moment, we see the tough desk sergeant cave and leads him down to Severide for a couple of minutes. She isn’t exactly happy with her husband and his ultimatum though, let’s make that clear. When Burgess pries at Platt as to why Ruzek went undercover, Platt refuses to confirm or deny that he took it to avoid being around his ex-fiance but we can read between the lines.

Sharon Goodwin: This week Goodwin asks Dr Charles to evaluate a potential organ donor recipient. Affected by his own personal issues, it takes him a while to report back to her. Also this week, after Dr Manning’s patient dies, Goodwin informs her that the newly returned Chief of Emergency Medicine, Dr Stohl, wants to use her case as an example for teaching the rest of the staff. We’re with Manning, nothing good is going to come from this, or at least not if the “troll” (Dr Halstead’s words, not mine) is the one leading the case study.

CHICAGO MED — “Uncharted Territory” Episode 209 — Pictured: Marlyne Barrett as Maggie Lockwood — (Photo by: Matt Dinerstein/NBC)

Maggie Lockwood: The head nurse first pops up on Fire to draw Severide’s blood at 51 in preparation for his bone marrow procedure. While there, she also gives him advice on whether he should meet the patient Anna or not. On Med, two MMA fighters are brought in and their brothers come barging in arguing over whose fault it was. Things get physical and Maggie almost gets caught in the crossfire before Dr Choi and med student Clarke break them apart.

CHICAGO MED — “Uncharted Territory” Episode 209 — Pictured: Torrey DeVitto as Natalie Manning — (Photo by: Elizabeth Sisson/NBC)

Dr Natalie Manning: Poor Nat, she’s having a rough week. Despite her best efforts to save a college student who passed out from what seemed like undiagnosed diabetes and gallstones but turned out to be lung cancer, he sadly dies when the radiation treatment she thought would buy them time, causes the tumor to burst. Before all this drama went down, she had suggested to her boyfriend and med student Clarke that they take a trip away together to New Orleans, causing him to confess that he once drunkenly told her late husband that he wished that Nat was his wife and his former wife was her late husband’s wife, and that was the reason why the best friends drifted apart. Nat is furious that he didn’t tell her early and by the end of the ep, things aren’t looking good for them. Looks like the trip is off?

CHICAGO MED — “Uncharted Territory” Episode 209 — Pictured: (l-r) Deron J. Powell as Tate Jenkins, Yaya DaCosta as April Sexton — (Photo by: Elizabeth Sisson/NBC)

April Sexton: April’s been going a bit stir crazy staying at home thanks to her TB – she’s already renovating the den at her and Tate’s home and wedding planning. He loves her, but she’s driving him a tad bit crazy. Thankfully she gets a reprieve out of the house when they go to Med for their baby’s first ultrasound. Unfortunately their unborn child is a bit smaller than it should be and there is a possibility that it may have abnormal brain development due to her her TB medication. As they are hitting the 12 week mark, Tate quietly suggests that if it comes down to her and the baby, he’s going to pick her and that there’s still time to do something about it before her pregnancy progresses any further. As a Catholic, April is horrified by his suggestion and he argues what about his say in all of this. With the two of them eating dinner in silence at the end of the episode, it looks like these two are going to agree to disagree for the time being.

CHICAGO MED — “Uncharted Territory” Episode 209 — Pictured: Rachel DiPillo as Sarah Reese — (Photo by: Elizabeth Sisson/NBC)

Dr Sarah Reese: Working alongside Dr Charles as he evaulates Goodwin’s organ recipient patient, the young psych resident challenges her mentor when he expresses doubts on giving the patient the green light. It turns out the patient is a former addict and has been clean without the help of therapy or support groups and so Dr Charles is concerned that she will eventually relapse and it would be a waste of a heart donation. He has after all seen addicts relapse before, not just over the duration of his career but also in his personal life with his own brother. While Reese feels bad about pushing him to the point where he reveals such a personal thing, she does in the end help him see that the patient can persevere and so he gives the patient a positive evaluation. On a side note, I was loving Reese’s hair in this episode – she should wear it down more often!

CHICAGO P.D. — “Don’t Read The News” Episode 410 — Pictured: Marina Squerciati as Kim Burgess — (Photo by: Matt Dinerstein/NBC)

Shout Out of the Week: This week I’m giving it to both Lindsay and Burgess from PD. Burgess because she kept persisting in trying to bond with new partner Olinsky and was determined to prove him wrong by the end of the episode. And also for the way she handled the grieving aunt who was getting all up in their faces at the crime scene. She was firm yet showed no violence towards her and then swore that they would find the culprit and they did. Lindsay gets a shout out for not only her unwavering faith in Severide and her determination to clear his name, but also the way she handled the whole estranged father returns situation. Lindsay is a tough young woman as a result of being let down so many times in life, so it was no surprise that she was a bit guarded when she initially met him, but she was willing to give him a chance and displayed vulnerability by wanting to enjoy the fantasy for now – it’s a side to Lindsay we don’t see that often and reminds us that she’s not always the tough girl.
