ONE CHICAGO Women: Chicago P.D. 3×17 recap

With Chicago Med and Chicago Fire on a little hiatus, Chicago P.D. was riding solo this week in the ONE CHICAGO world. Lucky for us, there was enough drama that we weren’t complaining about our lack of Chicago fix. Read on to find out why, and what the ladies of Chicago P.D. were up to this week…

Erin Lindsay: This week’s episode and case focused heavily on Lindsay’s partner (both on the job and off the job) Halstead, who was caught in the crossfire of a robbery with his side job. Halstead recently took on a second job as a security guard for a marijuana dispensary owned by former lawyer Briana Logan (played by Buffy, Angel and The Lying Game star, Charisma Carpenter) and when he went to do a bank run with a fellow guard, Terry, they were ambushed on route and Terry was shot and later died. Just before the run, Terry revealed that he and his wife were expecting a baby. Halstead is determined to get justice and take down whoever attacked them, and so Intelligence is on the case. Briana Logan is questioned and when other suspects reveal that she was keen to get her claws in Halstead (not to mention Voight witnesses her being a bit touchy feely with Halstead and then questions him as to whether he is sleeping with her), Lindsay doesn’t react. It was so great and also refreshing to see on TV that Lindsay didn’t feel the need to make a scene and she trusted her man. Once the case is solved and Halstead goes to Brianna to resign, she tells him that her previous offer of a “casual dinner” still stands, and he politely turns her down, telling her that he is already seeing someone. It’s nice to see that there are some good guys out there.

Kim Burgess: Lindsay might trust her boyfriend and partner, but the same can’t be said for Burgess’s ex-fiance, Ruzek. Despite the fact that they are no longer together, Ruzek gets a bit snippy and petulant when he sees Burgess and Roman being friendly at the District. Later while on patrol with Roman, she laughs off the notion of the two of them being more than just friends and we believe her, we’re just not sure Roman feels the same. Say what you want but there have been moments where we have felt vibes coming from him. I personally enjoy their partnership and hope it stays strictly platonic – between Lindsay/Halstead and Burgess/Ruzek, we can’t just have everyone at the district just hooking up with each other!

Trudy Platt: Apart from Sgt Platt witnessing the tail end of the awkward Burgess, Ruzek and Roman encounter and then calling the latter out on his snide remarks about having to help Intelligence, we don’t see much of the desk sergeant this week.

Chicago Med airs Tuesdays at 9/8c, Chicago Fire airs Tuesdays at 10/9c and Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c. All three air on NBC and are currently on a mini hiatus. We’ll keep you posted on when they’re due to return.
