First Responders Showdown Championship Round

By  |

And then there were two.

Our First Responders Showdown has reached the Championship Round and features two beloved characters who lost their lives in the line of duty – Station 19‘s Chief Lucas Ripley and Chicago Fire‘s Brian ‘Otis’ Zvonecek. Weeks of voting saw 64 characters from Chicago Fire, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Station 19, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Rescue Me, and Third Watch eventually narrowed down to these two characters. Competition was fierce and the results are in your hands.

Over the last month we’ve been paying tribute to the fictional firefighters and paramedics from shows past and present, but the current COVID-19 pandemic has revealed just important real life first responders are to our health and safety so we’d like to take the time to acknowledge them too. Each round we’ve been highlighting a different non-profit organization that benefits first responders and this championship round is no different. Please consider donating if you have the resources.

DONATE

Your Local Fire/EMT Departments

Never before have we as a global community been so aware of how much our first responders do for our respective communities than we are now. So as we reach the final round of this competition, we encourage you to reach out to your local fire and EMT departments to see how you can support them. Can you have lunch delivered? How about buying everyone on duty coffee and doughnuts? Does your local department have a survivor’s fund or assistance program accepting donations? Even writing them a note of appreciation and sending it through the mail could be the encouragement someone needs to get through another day.

Before we launch into the final round of voting for the First Responders Showdown, a few notes:

  • Obviously there are more than 64 actors portraying first responders. To keep the field to 64 total, we limited contenders to main or recurring characters over a show’s run, including characters who died or left the show.
  • Performers were paired randomly for Round 1 and the winners of each bracket were paired with someone who received a similar amount of votes for Rounds 2 to 5, which ultimately decided the Championship contenders.
  • We welcome your arguments on why voters should choose specific performers in the comments! Feel free to campaign for your faves on social media and be sure to tag us with our @nicegirlstv handle!

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND VOTING ENDS AT 11:59 P.M. PACIFIC ON SATURDAY, MAY 30, 2020.
