First Responders Showdown: Round 4

By  |

Our First Responder Showdown is down to the Elite Eight!

With COVID-19 revealing just how important first responders are to our health and safety, this time around we’re featuring fictional firefighters and paramedics from several shows both current and past. During Round One, we selected 64 characters from Chicago Fire, 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Station 19, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Rescue Me, and Third Watch. With your votes, these were then narrowed down to 32 characters for Round Two, 16 for Round Three, and now we are down to 8 characters from Chicago Fire, Station 19, 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. The number of votes in Round 3 were almost double of that from Round 2, so there’s no question that as the rounds progress, the competition is getting hotter. (Sorry couldn’t resist, haha.) There are no guarantees – whoever makes it to the Final 4 and advances to Round 5 depends on you and your votes!

Before we get started, a few notes:

  • Obviously there are more than 64 actors portraying first responders. To keep the field to 64 total, we limited contenders to main or recurring characters over a show’s run, including characters who died or left the show.
  • Performers were paired randomly for Round 1 and the winners of each bracket were paired with someone who received a similar amount of votes for Rounds 2, 3 and 4. The Round 5 brackets will be paired in a similar fashion to Rounds 2-4.
  • We welcome your arguments on why voters should choose specific performers in the comments! Feel free to campaign for your faves on social media and be sure to tag us with our @nicegirlstv handle!

DONATE

Want to do something to support first responders during this time of extreme need? Each round we’ll be highlighting a different non-profit organization that benefits first responders. Please consider donating if you have the resources.

FDNY FOUNDATION

The FDNY Foundation is the official non-profit organization of the New York City Fire Department. The city has been hit especially hard by COVID-19, meaning first responders in NYC are working overtime and risking their lives to help others. The FDNY Foundation has set up a special COVID-19 Emergency Fund to help support them and their families. Click here to learn more and to donate.

ROUND 4 VOTING ENDS AT 11:59 P.M. PACIFIC ON SATURDAY, MAY 16, 2020.

Ange is the Girl from Oz who travelled the States. Teen dramas, rom-comedies and superhero shows are her weakness. She also loves a good crime and medical drama and probably watches more TV than she can handle... You can contact her at ange@nicegirlstv.com.
