AGENT CARTER: Why We Love Its Women

By  |

The Agent Carter finale was last night and even if the show’s future is uncertain, the women of the show should always remain in any Nice Girl’s heart. Here are five reasons why we love the women of Agent Carter.

  1.  Their friendships: Even if we only saw Angie in a brief moment, her relationship – and all of the other women in the boarding house – helped ground Peggy with women who cared about her and would look out for her, no matter what.
  2. They’re TOUGH: I think Peggy lived up to that this season with the rebar, but all of the women are tough as nails and don’t mind showing it off. Dottie was a hard nut to crack, Whitney even more so, and then even Ana has a quiet strength in the wake of her situation that we can’t think that these women are going to wilt and die when faced with a little trouble.
  3. They have sass: No one takes what the men say as gossip and moves on. They fight back, verbally if not physically, and leave no one in doubt of who’s boss.
  4. They know their value: Even in times when the men want nothing to do with smart and capable women, Peggy, Whitney and Dottie all show that there are skills that women have that men could always learn a little more about. Seducation’s women’s work, but it’s not without merit.
  5. Alone or together, they are determined: Angie, Dottie, Peggy, and Whitney all have different agendas and trajectories, but they are all committed to their work and making what they can of themselves. Sure Peggy was lead into a life of espionage by her brother’s death, but she didn’t give up on the work that she grew to love just because World War II ended and Steve Rogers was lost to the ocean.

What’s your favorite thing about these women? Are you rooting for season 3?

Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more.
