Weekly Update

WOMEN OF THE WEEK

By  |

It’s time for us to reveal our picks for Women of the Week. Let’s see who made the list this week:

She’s had it up to “here”!
Emily Bett Rickards from Arrow
Character Name: Felicyt Smoak
Nominated by Rueben: The love of Oliver Queen’s life finally had enough of her sweetheart and John Diggle, who have been acting like 5-year-olds, since Oliver came back to Star City to rejoin the team. She told them to get their collective heads out of their asses and put all their troubles behind them because she is simply sick and tired of their crap. Way to go, Felicity, for putting your foot down and putting the two main men in your life in their places.

Kicking Ass and Taking Names
Melissa McBride from The Walking Dead
Character Name: Carol
Nominated by Lisa: She really stepped up this week and handled in attack on Alexandria like a true leader and badass! I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end of this episode and Carol was a true hero! She deserves to be the woman of the week.

And the Emmy goes to….
Liza Weil from How to Get Away with Murder
Character Name: Bonnie Winterbottom
Nominated by Melissa: Oh Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie. What a tangled web we weave… Liza is walking the razor’s edge playing Bonnie this season. After the revelation about her childhood, several things fell into place about Bonnie’s relationship with both Annalise and Sam, finally giving us some insight into the very complicated character Liza and the writers have been building. Add in her very convincing story about how and why she killed Sam, the tears as she pleaded with Asher not to accuse her, and her stone-cold confidence that Asher would not betray her, plus the flashforwards to the murder at the manor coming up in a few weeks, and I think this episode might fill Liza’s Emmy reel all by itself.

Shadowy Superhero
Krysten Ritter from Jessica Jones
Character Name: Jessica Jones
Nominated by Liz: We saw a glimpse of how bad Krysten Ritter can be in the “Veronica Mars” movie, but when I watched the trailer for Jessica Jones I thought she was the perfect choice to play the part. She’s dark and dangerous and I totally believe her portrayal.

Super Special Agents
The Women of Quantico
Nominated by Cay: It’s one of the more gender balanced crime/action shows on TV (actually leaning female), despite being about a traditional male-dominated profession. The women are all complicated with different facets to their personalities (and they all have secrets). They can all handle themselves pretty well without any help from the men to boot.
