ONE CHICAGO Women: Chicago P.D. 3×01 and 3×02 Recap
Season three of Chicago P.D. has definitely leapt straight into the action. Here’s what the show’s leading ladies have been up to so far…
Erin Lindsay: It’s been weeks since Lindsay handed in her badge and much like the end of last season, she’s still partying and drinking. Even a visit from her (ex) partner, Halstead, can’t shake some sense into her, and o he leaves hurt and disappointed. Halstead does end up being the catalyst for her recovery though when he ends up getting kidnapped while working on a case. Voight may not be talking to her, but colleague Olinsky feels like she has a right to know about the situation and tells her. When Voight is told that if they ever want to se Halstead again, they need to turn over their CI files and that a female officer is to make the drop. Initially Burgess seems to be the only option, until Lindsay shows up and volunteers herself. After some hesitation and conditions, Voight agrees. Lindsay ends up being taken to where Halstead is and when his captor realises that the files are fake, a fight breaks out (including Lindsay crashing onto a glass table, ouch!) and she ends up taking down the bad guys. In the aftermath, Halstead admits that he’s glad she was the one who came to his rescue and Lindsay realises that she wants back in on Intelligence. Voight agrees, with a few conditions – she is to live with him, do regular drug tests and cut off all ties with her mother, Bunny.
In the next episode, Lindsay is now living with Voight and is clean. She’s been avoiding Bunny, who has been persistently calling her. Realising that she needs to rip off the bandaid, Lindsay goes to see her mother and tell her they need some time apart. Out of spite, Bunny then decides to report Voight for dodgy dealings. Something tells me that Lindsay is going to be less than impressed when she finds out.
Kim Burgess: Burgess and Ruzek may now be engaged but it doesn’t look like the wedding will be happening any time soon with no mention of a date. It doesn’t help that her partner Sean Roman seems skeptical about the marriage. But Burgess may have more important things to worry about – at the end of the episode after they’ve made up, she finds some needles in Roman’s bag. What is he up to?
In episode two, Burgess finds the body of a young boy inside a fridge while chasing a suspect, triggering this week’s case. She also worries about her partner’s suspicious behaviour, especially when he’s lagging behind during chases. But don’t worry, it’s nothing suspicious – quite the opposite actually. It turns out that Roman has been donating blood to help out a young child with leukaemia and he brings Burgess to the hospital to meet the child.
Trudy Platt: At the end of last season, Olinksy discovered that he had a teenage daughter and it’s a revelation that he is still obviously struggling with since he’s still keeping her a secret and hasn’t told anybody about her, especially not his wife and daughter. Sensing that something is weighing on his mind, Sgt Platt coaxes him into telling her and the two share a lovely scene. I hope we get more Platt and Olinksy scenes this season.
