THE GOOD WIFE 5.19 – ‘The Deep Web’ Deception Sucks

By  |

TGW519_duoAlicia’s at Jury Duty and Eli is practically apocalyptic. Fin Polmar is is already loosing while the election for State’s Attorney has barely begun. Mr. Gold has taken the liberty of scheduling an interview for Polmar along with a one on one coaching session before hand. It becomes abundantly clear to Eli in the meeting that Fin is a less than enthusiastic candidate.

During the interview Polmar proves adept at handling himself which I’m sure makes Eli very proud while at the same time sets his wheels to turning. Here’s to hoping Fin survives the political machine.

Diane gets a case dropped in her lap and boy is it a doozey!  We are introduced to SilkRoad.com. the Amazon.com of all things illegal, from pot and heroin along with murder for hire if necessary. The accused, Robbie, is in a tough spot. As so many things do, they boil down to a boy impressing a girl. Corsica. After a death it turns into a he said she said contest. The ever resourceful Kalinda discovers Robbie is indeed the real culprit behind all this mess and Diane wisely withdraws from a no win situation.

TGW5.19_trioIn the midst of legal wrangling Diane discovers she is getting the runaround from her partners. Louis Canning and David Lee are conspiring behind her back with clients.  Kalinda is called in for some digging before any moves are made.

When the evidence is uncovered, the two are confronted.  Canning pulls another one out of his hat by diverting everyone’s attention and tells Diane he’s dying. Trouble is….Louis Canning is Evil Little Worm and when a boy cries wolf one too many times no one cares.

Kalinda saves the day again when she discovers that truth actually is stranger than fiction. Louis is really dying, AND trying to take over at the same time. Go figure? I don’t know about you, but I am ready to club the dude over the head myself it it would make him pass into the afterlife sooner.

TGW5.19_mommyAfter escaping Jury Duty Alicia checks in with with Cary who insists on Ms. Florrick taking the day off. Alicia agrees, however through a series of misadventures with the TV, and a failed lunch with her mother, winds up in an unexpected lunch date with one of the potential jurors from earlier in the day.

Alicia has a very pleasant lunch and also receives an invitation for drinks later, she is very tempted but falls just shy of taking him up on the invitation.  Her words just outside the bar are telling: “It’s one drink. Why is that a problem? Who am I being faithful to?”
And that my friends is the million dollar question. I’m betting her loyalty is not to Mr. Florrick, it’s to Wil. And, ain’t that a bitch.

Observations:

  • I am so happy to see Kalinda doing what she does best: Investigating!
  • It will be very exciting to see what Alica does when she dicides to sto pcleaing up afer everyone else and live life on her own terms.
  • I wonder how many people actually looked up SilkRoad.com after this episode?
  • I felt vindicated when Alica had trouble with her tv as well. Ah! Buffering! How I loathe thee!
