Revolution 2.14 Fear and Loathing

Monroe, Connor, Charlie

Last we saw Monroe and Connor, they had gotten caught stealing the diamonds. Monroe’s old employer, Gould, knows who he is now and is planning on making the two of them fight to the death while he sells tickets. Connor isn’t willing to kill Monroe even though he tries to teach him how and about his weaknesses. To motivate him, Monroe tells him that he was the reason why his mother died. It works, at least during their practice.

Charlie goes to Duncan and appeals to her to help her save Monroe. Duncan captures her and gives her to Gould to assure him that she wasn’t involved in the heist. Doyle sets her up to be his latest prostitute. During the fight, Charlie manages to kill her first john and escapes, getting to the fighting ring right in time to kill a man who was about to kill Duncan.

Connor gets Miles in a compromising position and is about to kill him when shots erupt – Duncan’s men break up the crowd and she kills Gould . Duncan gives Monroe 5 guys in return for Charlie saving her life. The catch is that they only will take orders from Charlie.

Miles, Rachel, Jason and Neville.

The Patriots are renovating the field hospital, under the orders of Doyle (Neville’s wife’s new husband) but he doesn’t let on that he knows him. Miles decides to abduct him for a little chat. Jason tells Neville that the troops are building a “re-education center”, but he doesn’t care, he just wants to kill Monroe and save Julia.

Revolution - Season 2 Miles and Rachel don’t trust Neville, but they are willing to play along for now, or so it seems. Miles calls off the ambush when he realizes that the wagon Doyle is riding in is overweight (because it’s full of soldiers expecting the ambush). He confronts Neville with his gun, then Jason pulls his gun on Miles, then Rachel shows up, also armed.

Neville comes clean and tells them that the Patriots are holding Julia hostage and will trade her only for Monroe. Miles tells him that Monroe is back on their side, so they won’t turn him over.

Aaron and Priscilla

Still locked in their hotel room, Aaron and Priscilla are visited by dead loved ones (Cynthia and her father) who beg them to save them, because they are dying. They are next visited by Peter, who wants to know what they think the visions meant. Aaron thinks that they made a mistake with the code. Peter believes that it is fate that they have to help – the nanotech is his God. Priscilla wants the tech to die and Peter threatens them.

Aaron tries to convince her that they need to help. A freak lightning storm suggest that she doesn’t have much of a choice. They meet with Peter in an old office and the long-dead computer in the room suddenly turns on and their code streams across the screen. The three of them start working on the code and Aaron figures out the problem and starts to reprogram the code.

Cynthia appears while he works and asks him what he is doing – he’s killing them. Peter tries to stop him, but Aaron hits him and continues working. Priscilla realizes he is introducing a virus into the code. As Aaron races to finish the code, the lights spark and the nanotech gets really angry…

My Thoughts:

A good episode, I thought. Charlie barely escaping bad circumstances and Monroe fighting are both themes that I’m growing tired of, but it made for a lot of suspense, even though it seemed likely that all three would of them would survive.

I’m looking forward to the upcoming Neville-Monroe showdown. Neville remains one of the most fascinating characters in the show and his complete and total alliance-switching, seemingly at the drop of a hat, certainly makes him both intriguing and dangerous. Now there’s the added fun that both Monroe and Neville have a son at their sides. There’s also the potential love triangle of Charlie-Connor-Jason, which pretty much every other character isn’t going to approve of, whichever way it goes.

Obviously Aaron’s virus will not entirely kill the nanotech, or the entire premise of the show will fall. However, it seems a safe bet that his virus will make things worse, at least in the short-term. I anticipate that he and Priscilla will be headed back to join the rest of the gang soon, one way or another.
