HART OF DIXIE: Star of the Week

By  |

”Weird” Medical Case of the Week: Shelby’s on bedrest after Brick’s revelation of why he was having Zoe direct because she collapsed in shock. She’s no longer involved in the show.

Gossip: Shelby runs into Brick’s office to announce that Dash has left directing her cabaret show. Too bad Lemon’s not in town to help Brick with Shelby or to help Annabeth and the Belles to help get stop the merger with Filmore. Lemon’s solution to help Brick with his Shelby problem is to get the cabaret out of town. To that end, Zoe is put in charge of directing the cabaret. Will that actually get Shelby to leave? Only time will tell. Annabeth and Cricket are doing their best to butter up the Governor’s sister to help with the merger. That plan falls flat quickly, but Cricket is still determined to keep Maryann in town.

Trying to demonstrate her creativity, and at the urging of Brick, Zoe takes over the direction of the cabaret. Zoe’s first decision about the show is to revive her “One Cellular Sensation”, a show all about the cell. This looks as if it will go swimmingly. Hopefully it’s as big a flop as Brick hopes. Joel has to break the news to Zoe about the plan for cabaret, which she doesn’t believe. The show is really awful – not just the lyrics, but the adaptations of the songs. Zoe looks properly upset at the idea of being used as Brick’s patsy, but now that Maryann is staying for the show, Zoe’s plot seems likely to flop. Brick has to come forward with his idea on how to get Shelby out of town and then she faints. This cabaret gets more and more interesting as the episode goes on. With Shelby now home on bedrest, the show is twelve minutes that were around all of her wardrobe changes.

Given that Levan has been wallowing in self-doubt over this merger, he needs a peptalk, given by Lemon. Lemon also gives a pep talk to George about how to keep Scotter away from Maryann on her trip around town. Levan is honest in his approach how to talk to Maryann about the show – saying that the town is unique. If nothing else, the cabaret is a unique representation of Bluebell as a town. Shelby, in her bed, comes to save the show. In the end, Maryann is swayed by the town’s dedication to being around and says that she’ll have her brother come visit. Especially since the merger projects are more the lieutenant governor’s idea.

Relationship Drama: George had a dream about Tansy while in bed with Lynly. That is not going to do you any favors man. Tansy is being cagey with Scooter, her boyfriend, after she let George and Levan into Scooter’s plan to help take over Bluebell.

Vivian and Wade seem to be doing well, but Tansy doesn’t seem to think so. She’s giving advice to Wade, too, based on her experience as a hairdresser. But as soon as Wade tells Vivian about the change in date location, she cancels, saying that her babysitter and great-uncle are all sick and that there’s no way she can attend. Vivian ditched the date because she can’t handle more dates that start at 9:30 because she’s up at 5:30 AM with her son and her job.

Never go on a double date with your ex-girlfriend, George. If only because it gives Tansy and Lynly a chance to talk and go into their own different stories of dating George. Scooter decides to bitch about Lynly and then Scooter learns that Tansy had snuck into his office to reveal what the real plan for Filmore was. While George, Lynly and Tansy get drunk without Scooter. At least the reveal about Scooter’s hurt feelings over Tansy’s decision makes her think that she shouldn’t be with him, but she also needs to not fall back into a relationship with George. What also shouldn’t have happened: Lynly overhearing Tansy’s admission about her relationship with George.

While on bedrest, Brick and Shelby rekindle their relationship, without telling Lemon. Brick really needs to stick to one decision and not waffle. It doesn’t look goo on anyone.
