By  |

Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is focused on TV writer and producer Beth Schwartz.

Beth began her career in 2007 as a production staffer on the JJ Abrams produced ABC dramedy What About Brian where she later had the opportunity to write an episode. The following year she was part of the writing staff on the popular ABC drama Brothers & Sisters.

Four years later she wrote an episode of The CW dramedy Hart of Dixie before landing a job in the show that would change her career: Arrow. She joined the writing staff of the anchor DC series in season one; and since that time, she has been involved in writing and editing 50 episodes over the shows six season run. In 2015, she was promoted to co-producer and became co-executive producer in 2016.

She also served as a consulting producer and writer on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in 2016.

Earlier this year, she was promoted to showrunner of Arrow, taking over for former co-showrunners Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle. Series creator and executive producer Greg Berlanti had this to say about Beth, “She has been a source of some of the show’s most exciting and memorable moments from the beginning. Beth is a true leader and a captivating storyteller, and we all can’t wait for the audience to see what she and her team dream up as they take Arrow into its next big chapter.” [Source: Deadline]

The 7th season of Arrow will premiere on The CW on Monday, October 15 at 8/7c.

Beth is engaged to director, and former Arrow cameraman Jeff Cassidy. According to her Twitter page, she is a “lover of coffee and my dog.”
