HART OF DIXIE: Something to Talk About

By  |

Welcome back to another five episodes in Bluebell. Hopefully the town doesn’t fall apart between now and then…

”Weird” Medical Case of the Week: There is no case this week, maybe because there’s plenty of gossip and drama in the town that we can’t handle a medical case without making the episode bloated and heavy.

Gossip: There’s a possibly that Bluebell and Filmore might be merging together. Spelling disaster wherever news goes, it seems. The meeting with the state Comptroller goes the way that Levan doesn’t want to go: Filmore is expressing interest in the merger, for reasons unknown.

Too bad Tansy is now the perfect spy to find out the true motives of the merger with Filmore because she’s dating the town lawyer of Filmore. While talking to Tansy, George makes a guess that Filmore’s not so solvent as they might have been, which makes a merger more appealing.

The Fourth Estate (read Dash and Rose) came upon Annabeth and forces her into a panic attack, in the form of Zoe helping to distract Dash from his blog post about the merger. Possible distractors include Annabeth and Joel soon being in a secret relationship with each other to put Dash off the scent of the merger.

Secretly finding a way into a party of Tansy’s boyfriend, George and Levan discover that Gainey’s plan for merging with Bluebell is actually an annexation such that Filmore will overtake Bluebell. Now it turns out that Levan will need to tell the town about the potential merger before the news about Annabeth and Joel actually grows real legs.

Rose catches Levan kissing Annabeth and tells Dash that the Annabeth and Joel relationship is a fake, but at least Rose tells Zoe before Levan finds himself with an angry mob at his feet.

The town panics as the news finally gets to all of them and Levan looks nervous.

On the other side of town, how does Brick get into going to Shelby’s birthing class? Equally curious, how does Brick not see Shelby’s pleas for company as a cry for help? As only Shelby can do, she misinterprets what Brick said earlier and moves out of the hotel and into Brick’s house.

Having broken off his date with Carol Ann before, Brick doesn’t look forward to Carol Lee seeing Shelby in the house, but that’s what Carol Lee finds. Later, saying not to Shelby is never something Brick could do, but now it seems that he can, but he’s worried about the ramifications of his actions.

Carol Lee hears more about how Shelby needs him and decides to break up with him. There’s another note of Shelby ruining his life. Poor Brick!

Relationship Drama: Seems like Wade wants to try and date Vivian, the cousin that Zoe’s been spending time with since Hanukkah. That’s going to go over so so so well. Too bad half the town seems to think that it might be a good idea. Zoe can’t stop Vivian from going out with Wade, despite all of Zoe’s best intentions. Even Joel notices that Zoe might be a little too irrational about Wade’s date with Vivian. Attempts to keep two adults from dating is not going over well for Zoe; she’s looking more and more irrational about the whole Wade and Vivian date.

Phase two of plan to distract Dash goes into motion, which means that Zoe has the pleasure of throwing water on Joel in the Rammer Jammer. The plan might be working too well because everyone’s interested in making sure that Zoe and Joel, and Annabeth and Levan are together or apart.

Vivian, after a great date with Wade, wants Zoe’s opinion on if Wade is good material for Vivian or not. But Zoe can’t answer without letting her issues out, and there’s a sense that Vivian’s about to do the opposite of what Zoe wants.

Perhaps Wade isn’t all the right for Vivian after all, but Wade’s going to try. His phone call to her doesn’t go well and Wade assumes it’s all based on Zoe’s opinion. Too bad her no comment statement to Vivian made Vivian stay away from Wade.

The truth of what Wade could be for Vivian is not clear to Zoe, but maybe it is to everyone else. Wade even asks if maybe there’s another reason why Zoe’s so bothered by the idea of Wade dating Vivian.

In the end, Zoe tries to make a case for Wade with Vivian and there’s a second chance on the horizon for the two of them. There’s a second date for them to see what might come.
