HAPPY ENDINGS: Adam Pally & Zachary Knighton on Friends, Lovers & Commercials

By  |

Happy Endings stars Adam Pally (Max) and Zach Knighton (Dave) sat down with reporters to talk about what’s coming up for their characters on the hilarious ABC series. Just don’t ask Zach about Dave’s love life.

Dave tells us, well, nothing about his character’s romantic future. “There’s a bit of a twist coming. But I don’t think I can talk about it because it’s coming down the line.  I think fans will be supportive for sure.”

Adam puts in his two cents: “No spoilers for that one. But there’s some big stuff coming down the line for old Dave.” Meanwhile, Max starts dating a rake. As in a garden rake. I’m not sure what to make of that one.

The topic of whether Hollywood stars beating down the door to guest star on Happy Endings leads to a discussion between Adam and Zach about their friends, and the friends don’t come out looking so good.

“I’d like to say that there’s a big rush of Hollywood trying to sign up, but basically any guest star that you’ve seen is a friend of ours,” says Adam.

“Well except Megan Mullally, and Damon Wayans Sr. was Damon’s dad,” Zach chimes in. “So there’s a little family.”

“Although Megan is friends with Casey. And we’re friends with her husband,” Adam reminds him.

Zach counters, “We begged a lot of friends to do it and they haven’t done it so.”

“Yes, so it’s all our friends that have turned us down,” Adam laments.

In tonight’s episode, Dave decides it’s time to advertise his food truck, Steak Me Home Tonight, but his first TV commercial is hilariously awful. Adam gleefully previews it for us: “Dave historically is terrible in front of the camera. So when he has to make commercials, it gets a little messy. And Max comes in as kind of the Marty Scorsese of the group and tries to help him make artistic commercials.”

Happy Endings (and both commercials) airs tonight at 9:30/8:30c on ABC.
