NICE GIRLS SPOIL: Suburgatory, Da Vinci’s Demons, Happy Endings

By  |

We’re heading into season finale territory, and first up is ABC’s Suburgatory, airing a two-part finale. We also have new series Da Vinci’s Demons to discuss, and more shenanigans on the way from the Happy Endings crew. It’s spoiler time!

Suburgatory

Back-to-back episodes make up the second season finale. In the first, Tessa deals with her very public break up with Ryan by turning her hurt into a campaign against Dalia that turns surprisingly violent. The downward spiral continues in the next episode, ending with reimagined family units, altered living arrangements, and the reminder that all is not as perfect as it appears in Chatswin.

Da Vinci’s Demons

If you wondered how Lucrezia Donati managed to get away with having an affair with Lorenzo Medici and sneak away with Leonardo at the carnivale, pay attention when we meet her husband, Niccolo, at a Medici celebration in this week’s episode. His wife’s physical needs may not be at the top of his list of interests. Recognizing leverage when he sees it, visiting Count Riaro uses Lucrezia, and the lure of forbidden fruit, to tempt Leonardo into working for Rome, but a successful military demonstration boldly declares Leo’s allegiance and Florence’s power.

Happy Endings

In this week’s two-fer, after facing her break-up demons with her play, Black Plague: A Love Story, Penny reverts to form by engaging in a torrid affair with Jane’s boss, the Car Czar (guest star Rob Corddry). It’s not pretty. Prompted by his friends’ concern, Max tries to find a purpose in life by entering the Mr. Super Gay Chicago competition. In the second episode, Jane finally gets to make over Max’s life, with positive results: Body parts stop burning, he lands a job at a supermarket,  he gets to use his CPR training…  But Max suspects that his ex-roommate, Chase (guest star Mark-Paul Gosselaar) is behind his suddenly “perfect” life. Meanwhile, Dave challenges Alex to use up all of her Groupons, with painful results. (Season finale tease: there’s a third Kerkovich sister!)
