Nice Boy of the Week: Cristián de la Fuente
The road to success came with its bag of challenges, as Cristián explained, “My first challenge was to come all the way from Chile and start acting in a different language. That was my first challenge. When I did that, then I started doing drama. When I did drama then I wanted to do sitcoms. And then, do different roles and then go back to Spanish, go back to English.”
Cristián began his career at the age of 18 when, after he had entered college to earn a degree in engineering, he decided that wasn’t the road he wanted to travel. “Since I was a kid I always wanted to be an actor and growing up in a very traditional family my dad wanted me to be an engineer, because they always say that if you have a degree you can be somebody in your life. If you don’t have a degree you’re nobody, that’s how my father’s mentality was.” Cristián was able to convince his father that engineering was not in the cards for him and he began to actively pursue his dream.
Ever the challenge seeker, Cristián likes to water ski and other activities that provide that adrenaline kick he loves. “I’m addicted to adrenaline. When I was living in Chile I was a firefighter. Now, I’m a Lieutenant to the Chilean Air Force and I fly with a (robotic) team. I do water ski and I do a lot of sports that, require a lot of adrenaline, so that’s kind of something that moves me.”
Cristián is also pretty active on Twitter (@iamdelafuente). He likes to feel connected with the fans out there that provide feedback which he finds interesting. Feedback is what he gets too – from more than 93,000 followers! But if you’re Cristián de la Fuente, that’s just normal. It’s an honor to include him in our Nice Boys list.
