NIKITA: The Cast Tease an Action-Packed Season 2

Nikita watchers, are you fastening your seat belts? According to Maggie Q, this next season is “gonna be a ride.” In a series of interviews with Maggie Q (Nikita), Lyndsey Fonseca (Alex), and Shane West (Michael) it was clear that all three actors think executive producer Craig Silverstein is a genius at packing each episode with so much that the actors themselves feel they are on a ride.

Maggie Q teased that just “from the first episode to the third, I’m like, ‘Really? Whoa.’ It’s a completely different dynamic. It’s amazing!”

“Oh you guys,” she continued, “I am so excited about season two. One thing that’s really nice is that there are different pairings of characters [this season], different dynamics, chemistries, pairings I think you’re going to like,” she said with a wink. “Good chemistry, good dynamic.”

Lyndsey Fonseca said she likes that she’s not just sitting around twiddling her thumbs wondering what her character is doing next. Instead she showed us a dramatization of herself, one elbow on the table her head in her hand, leaning forward reading the script and flipping pages saying, “Oh my God. Ohhhh myyyy God!”

Shane West, who is used to working on dramas where “relationships are built over time” is very happy with what they have done with his character and said there is “enough in each episode of Nikita to be a season finale. It’s action packed. So fast. ”

And how do the writers feel about Silverstein’s pace? (Here we get a look at the joy that goes into coming up with these plots that keep us saying, “What?!”) Silverstein becomes a little animated and discloses with a boyish smile, “They bought me a big detonator, with a plunger, because I keep blowing up the stories. [He mimes pushing the plunger.] So I actually have a detonator in the writers’ room tied to fake TNT. So, they’re used to it.”

“It’s just the way I write stories, I start out wanting to make it simple, but I get bored and I want something to happen,” he laughed. “And so that’s how they get packed.”

Nikita season 2 premieres in its new timeslot Friday, September 23 at 9/8c on the CW.
