Switched at Birth Recap: The Stag Hunt

By  |

This week on Switched at Birth there were some major surprises–an unexpected kiss, a new friendship in bloom, Toby does the right thing…???

The Test

The principal of Buckner sent out an email to all parents informing them of the stolen test (which we know was Toby’s doing) and guarantee whoever comes forward will only be suspended instead of expelled. Toby starts acting really weird, or should I say guilty. He finally confesses to his mom that he stole the test and his parents are very disappointed. Luckily for Toby his friend ends up getting pinned for selling the test and tells Toby he’ll take the fall. But, after Toby admits he still plans to gamble it’s time for the fam to get involved. Bay recruits Regina to talk with Toby about addiction and how his poker habit isn’t just for fun. He comes to terms with his problem and tells his father he’ll take the blame for the test. Good boy Toby!

The Father

Bay thinks she found her dad! However, when Daphne finds out Emmet has been helping her she gets quite upset, claiming she can tell there’s something more between them and giving him crap for how he treated her when she dated someone “hearing.” Emmet claims there’s nothing going on, but we still don’t believe him, and neither does Daphne.

Daphne then confronts her mother about Bay’s search for Angelo. She asks if he left because she’s Deaf and we learn that she’s felt his absence was her fault all these years. What a horrible thing for a child to have to go through, right? Regina says he just couldn’t handle having a real family.

Bay and Daphne confront “Angelo” in the club where he works and Daphne tells him off hardcore. Unfortunately the guy she berates in the club actually isn’t their/her father, he’s gay. Bummer.

But in some more optimistic news Emmet tells Bay he likes her, and kisses her! You heard me right—Emmet kisses Bay. Woah. I really didn’t see that one coming, but I’m definitely excited to see where this storyline goes.

The Cheater

It appears that Regina is still dating notorious playboy Bruce. Bruce goes to the Kennish house to surprise Regina and bring her an earring she left behind. It turns out the earring is his ex-wifes, who spots it when coming to chat with Katherine. Oops Bruce, looks like you really need to set your women straight. As it happens, the earring is his ex-wife’s, who he’s still sleeping with!!! Yet, when Katherine tries to warn Regina she merely gets angry and thinks Katherine is trying to meddle in her love life…because Katherine would never do that. For once though, Regina is actually wrong, and Bruce has no problem admitting what he’s up to. Regina, however, has a serious problem with it and breaks up with him.

Katherine and Regina are friends now? Apparently, seeing as how Katherine claims she wasn’t just trying to meddle but likes to “look out for her friends.” How sweet.

The Big Secret

Throughout the episode the Kennish parents are still trying to discover what the opposing side in their lawsuit has against them, but it turns out it’s not them they have dirt on…it’s Regina. Could it be that Regina almost lost Daphne to social services because of her drinking? That’s what I thought initially until the end of the episode when Daphne opens the mysterious guitar case her mother has kept. She figures out the code stands for “BAY” and once opened finds pictures of Bay for years! WHATTTT

I can’t wait to find out what that’s about…

Let us know what you thought of this weeks’ episode. Do you like Bay and Emmet as a couple or just as friends? Do you think the Kennish’s should confront Regina to figure out what she’s hiding? Why do you think Regina hasn’t come forward with the information that she knew all this time?
