Nice Boy of the Week: Eric Kripke

By  |

Our Nice Boy of the Week goes behind the scenes this time, with Supernatural‘s Eric Kripke. It’s way past time to honor Eric and induct him into our Nice Boys Wall of Fame.

Kripke caught our interest with the first season of Supernatural, airing on The CW. Like Steven Spielberg, he knew what frightened us and he put it all in a weekly series, then ampted it up to something more. With a cast of awesome talent, such as Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles, and a writing crew with Ben Edlund and Sera Gamble, Kripke couldn’t lose.

Eric Kripke started out his career making home movies to show to students at Sylvania Southview High School. He wrote and directed Battle of the Sexes and Truly Committed, followed by the WB’s television series Tarzan and the film Boogeyman. 2005 saw Kripke bring his weekly scary stories to television with Supernatural.

In 2009, Kripke announced that he was handing the reigns for “Supernatural” over to the very talented Sera Gamble, so he could pursue other projects. Kripke is still haunting the Supernatural set, but mostly as a ‘consultant’. “Supernatural” is still his baby, after all.

We had the opportunity to meet and chat with Kripke this past July at the San Diego Comic Con. The guy is so full of energy and humor and all of that bleeds onto the show, which is, I believe, part of the reason for its success.

He’s a delight and so talented, and he has earned his place as Nice Boy on NiceGirlsTV.
