With A Song in My Heart

By  |

NiceGirlsTV is all about television, I know, but music is becoming more and more a part of the shows we love to watch. In the last couple of years, my taste in music has changed drastically. I’ve gone from strictly country to more pop and indie artists. Also, I’m a product of the 70’s acid rock, so I find myself really drawn to the bands that are going  back to rock music without electronics. I’m happy to say that I’m hearing more of this type of music in my favorite TV shows.

Ballads have also become pretty popular in television. Pretty Little Liars, Chuck, The Ghost Whisperer and The Vampire Diaries have introduced me to many beautiful love songs I never would have listened to before. When I first heard Phil Marshall‘s “Start Anew”, I had to track him down and listen to his other music. I wasn’t disappointed. Phil’s songs are just the kind that belong in television and film. They are easy listening with lovely lyrics and sometimes, a rockin’ tune for those of us that need it now and then.

Phil Marshall is a Yorkshireman from England. He has recorded four solo albums, two of which at Abbey Road Studios in London, making him only one of a handful independent artist that have ever been allowed to record there. Phil recently completed a “Not On Tour” tour, which he put together himself, just so he could take his music to the people and maybe meet some fans along the way. If this is any indication of the love he has for music, Phil Marshall is headed for greatness. Indeed, greatness seems to be a part of him already, it just needs some more publicity.

This is where I can do my part. Call this post in my column a ‘shameless plug’ if you want to, I don’t mind. I think Phil’s music should be heard by the masses. It should be heard and considered for shows like Parenthood, Bones, Castle, as well as the shows already mentioned above. Television is not shy about using indie artists and Phil has already proven himself worthy.

You can listen to Phil Marshall’s music on his website and download his songs as well. Follow him on Twitter and Facebook too, to keep up with him. And if he comes to your town, go on out and see him! You won’t be sorry. Just ask his fans. Or just take it from me, because I’m a Nice Girl!
