Being Sick Really Sucks
Everyone hates being sick, right? There is nothing worse than coming down with a nasty head cold and cough especially after attending Comic Con, which is prone to causing many of its attendees to either get sick during or after the annual fete. The only good thing that comes out of being sick – if you can look at it as being good – is having endless time at home with your computer, television and DVR. The one big obstacle, though: you’re sick. You are buried under a haze of cold medicine and swimming in an endless sea of cough drops.
I had this experience this past week after returning home from Comic Con. I went back to work with a slight head cold for a couple of days that eventually turned worse as the week progressed despite my best efforts to nip the cold in the butt in the early stages.
The end of the week was the worst with my missing a day of work and then being bogged down over much of the weekend. I think I finally rallied on Sunday, getting a lot of writing for which I was behind on finished and posted.
And, despite the cold medicine haze, I got a lot of TV viewing done, getting caught up on all the shows I recorded while I was at Comic Con (only about 17 one-hour episodes of my favorite shows) on top of all the others shows I am watching this summer.
Which brings me to the main point of today’s blog: How many great shows are there to watch this summer? It’s almost unfathomable that the cable and major networks are offering such great fare for the viewers and so many people don’t even know about all the great programming that is out there.
I mean think about all the channels that are available via your cable provider and then think about all the programming those channels need to have to fill up their schedules. Somewhere in all of that, you are going to find shows that you’re going to want to watch, right? Well, if you are anything like us here at NiceGirlsTV, you are going to find a LOT of great shows to fill up your viewing schedule.
For me I watch a little over 20 shows a week – in the summer. Don’t get me started on the fall schedule, as that number nearly doubles – at least until I weed out the shows that don’t entertain or interest me once I have watched at least a couple of episodes of all the new dramas that premiere.
Currently, I am watching the following shows each week: The Closer, Rizzoli & Isles and Huge on Mondays; Pretty Little Liars, Warehouse 13, White Collar and Covert Affairs on Tuesdays; Psych on Wednesdays; Rookie Blue, Burn Notice and Royal Pains on Thursdays; Eureka and Haven on Fridays; Being Human on Saturdays (and Doctor Who until it concluded last weekend) and Unnatural History, Leverage, Drop Dead Diva, Army Wives, True Blood, Rubicon, The Glades and The Gates on Sundays.
So, what are the shows that you are enjoying most this summer? I’d love to hear what you have to say.
