Isles gets some shocking family news this season.

Rizzoli & Isles premiered to major numbers this week, drawing 7.6 million viewers to rank as the most watched ad-supported cable series launch of all time. Not too shabby! Were you among those record numbers? What did you think? I thought the interaction between Angie Harmon’s Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander’s Maura Isles was refreshing. Usually girl buddy shows veer toward the twee, but these two were snappy, supportive, and solid. So what’s coming up on TV’s newest hit? More murders, family drama, and, yes, some romance. We have some scoop, gathered with latex gloves and no disturbance of the crime scene.

In an upcoming marathon-themed episode (we are in Boston, after all), Maura convinces Jane to join the race only to stumble across a murder victim on the course. With an Eagle Scout providing assistance, the two attempt to solve the crime with as little publicity as possible to avoid mass panic at the crowded event. Maura’s life gets complicated when a homicide reveals a shocking family secret, thrusting her into danger.

On the romance front, Frankie Jr. attracts the eye of a cute waitress, but any hope of a relationship hits the skids when he and Jane find themselves facing another of serial killer Hoyt’s apprentices. Meanwhile, Jane and FBI Agent Dean get closer, although other men continue to make plays for Jane.
