My Top 10 Choices for November TV
With the holidays fast approaching most TV shows will be taking their holiday breaks, making way for plenty of holiday-themed made-for-TV movies, but there will also be a few new or returning dramas airing on cable networks and streaming services.
Here is my list of the top 10 choices of what I want to see most in November:
All Hail the Queen – Netflix will debut the 10-part drama The Crown on November 4, which tells the inside story of Queen Elizabeth II’s early reign, revealing the personal intrigues, romances and political rivalries behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th Century. Among the cast is Doctor Who alum Matt Smith.
Merry, Merry Christmas – The Hallmark Channel has become synonymous for its holiday-themed movies, debuting more and more every year. Among the new movies set to air in November that I am most anxious to see include:
The Mistletoe Promise on November 5 at 9 PM
Based on the bestselling novel by Richard Paul Evans, a chance meeting between two strangers (Jamie King from Hart of Dixie and Luke Macfarlane from Killjoys) who share a disdain for Christmas results in The Mistletoe Promise, a pact to help them navigate their holiday complications – together. But as they spend more time with each other and experience the magic of Christmas the phony couple discovers there may be more to their contract than business.
Every Christmas Has a Story on November 12 at 9 PM
A TV personality (Lori Loughlin from When Calls the Heart) has an on-air snafu and admits she hates Christmas. Following the debacle, she is invited to the Most Christmas-y town in America to try and repair her image. Forced to work with her ex-boyfriend Jack (Colin Ferguson from Eureka and Cedar Cove), the show’s producer, the magic of Christmas and this special town will change the way she views Christmas and her life.
A December Bride on November 20 at 9 PM
Based on the book by bestselling author Denise Hunter, aspiring interior designer Layla O’Reilly (Jessica Lowndes from 90210) is dreading the Christmastime wedding of her cousin who’s marrying Layla’s ex-fiancé. Although Seth Murphy (Daniel Lissing from When Calls the Heart) is the one responsible for introducing the bride and groom, she begrudgingly accepts his offer to be her date as she’s out of options. Seth gets carried away at the reception and announces they’re engaged, forcing a mortified Layla to keep up the pretense. But as the faux couple spends more time together they find themselves feeling something very real.
A Heavenly Christmas on November 26 at 8 PM
Upon her untimely death, Eve Morgan (Kristin Davis from Sex and the City), a workaholic finds herself tethered to her guardian angel (veteran actress Shirley MacLaine) learning to become a Christmas angel in Heaven. Despite being the worst recruit in the history of Christmas, Eve is assigned the difficult task of helping a struggling singer Max (Eric McCormack from Will & Grace) use his musical gifts to heal old family wounds. As Max begins to overcome his issues, Eve begins to embrace the meaning of Christmas, heal wounds of her own, and perhaps find love along the way.
A New Look At a Classic – The latest small-screen adaptation of the Lucy Maud Montgomery classic story Anne of Green Gables will air on PBS on November 24 at 8 PM. I have been a fan of this wonderful Canadian-based fictional character since the mid-1980’s and while this version may not live up to my favorite Anne that starred Megan Follows, I am certainly looking forward to seeing it play out.
Sci-Fi Still Reigns Supreme – The sixth and final season of Teen Wolf will premiere on MTV on November 15 at 9 PM while the third season of The Librarians will premiere on TNT on November 20 at 8 PM.
Then there is the introduction of the new Syfy series Incorporated on November 30 at 10 PM. The series is set in a near future where corporations have unlimited power and it focuses on Ben Larson (Sean Teale from Reign), a young executive who conceals his true identity to infiltrate a dangerous corporate world to save the woman he loves. But he’ll soon learn that he’s not the only one whose secrets may have deadly consequences.
Big Screen to Small Screen – The USA Network series Shooter, based on the best-selling novel by Stephen Hunter and the 2007 film that starred Mark Wahlberg, will debut on November 15 at 10 PM.
Ryan Phillippe (Secrets and Lies) takes over the lead role in the story that follows the courageous journey of Bob Lee Swagger, a highly-decorated ex-marine sniper who is coaxed back into action after he learns about a plot to kill the President.
