“Bones” Season Finale: The Sharks in the Water

By  |

I have been enjoying Bones this season and last, and I’ve been catching up with the first two seasons as they air on TNT. I love all the characters, my favorite being Hodgins. I talk with people about the show and I’ve even gotten some to watch it. So, I think it’s safe to say that I’m a fan. As a fan, I feel the need to talk about this season’s finale. Indulge me, for a moment, as I list the things I really liked about it:

* Every assistant returned for this episode.
* Each assistant played a character that was a departure from their original character.
* Sweets showed us his vocal talent beautifully.
* The main characters were cast in different roles than what we are used to.
* The Gravedigger and Gormogon make their “appearance”.
* “The Lab” looks very different.
* Angela’s ex-husband is back.
* Zack is back.
* The story was a fun one.

There is a ‘however’. After all the above fun and all the buzz leading up to the “great hook-up” between Booth and Brennen that was promised, in the end, it was all, still and only, just a dream. Seriously? I can’t say I was surprised, because I knew they’d do something like that. In fact, I even mentioned it during one of our radio broadcasts. But seriously? They really kept it that way? It was just a dream? I was so deflated. I mean, it was already a stretch to have Stewie on the show. This was just flat and, dare I say it – lame. When the episode first began, and we see all the characters in changed-up roles, I had a really bad feeling about its ending. But I held out hope that I was wrong.

All I can say now is, now that they’ve gotten that nonsense out of their systems, can we get back to our regularly scheduled Bones, the way we liked them, next season? Queue John Williams’ “Jaws” theme.
