A Million Little Things: Coming Home (Season Premiere)
The season premiere of A Million Little Things aired on Thursday night.
Here is the synopsis for the first episode of season two:
When Delilah goes into labor, Eddie feels compelled to tell Katherine the truth about being the baby’s father. Meanwhile, Gary and Maggie struggle with living together post-cancer, and Rome and Regina continue to be at odds about having a baby of their own.
Let’s join Cay and Rueben as they talk about the season premiere:
Cay:
The whole birth seemed anti-climatic after the big lead-up last season. How did Eddie slip into the room without anyone knowing? And the lactation consultant seemed over the top. Not that I have any experience with one, but I feel like they would be more supportive!
The baby is technically a preemie, isn’t she? So it was weird to have that many people over to the house so soon – my friend had twin preemies who had to be in the NICU for only a couple of days, but she was told not to expose them to anyone but close [healthy] family for a whole month. Not that this show is known for realism, but the “party in the baby’s room” scene bothered me.
If I was Katherine, I don’t know if I’d take Eddie back. Although the alternative is definitely to cut herself off from the rest of the group, because hanging around, even on the periphery, and seeing Eddie would be too much unless she really was ready to forgive and forget. However, how could you honestly trust him again and everyone knows about the baby as well and that’s just so awkward!
How did the guys not get busted for taking that crib? I was amused that Rome was insistent on not getting involved in anyway. Obviously guys who don’t have a clue about babies or they could have just grabbed a Pack-N-Play or a small bassinet to use until the crib came in.
I just want Maggie and Gary to have some time together without drama, but I’m sure that isn’t going to happen!
Not my favorite episode, but there are many more to come!
Rueben:
I actually liked the episode a bit more than Cay, but I have to agree with what you said above. The show does tend to be a little outside of reality at times. I actually felt bad for Katherine. She has every reason to be upset with Eddie after his revelation about the baby; but the way she chose to leave Theo, I felt that was all kinds of wrong. I understand that she couldn’t be there, but to just leave him alone (even with Eddie on his way home to be there) but to just leave…that just seemed wrong to me.
I was admittedly irritated with the lactation consultant, and so was Maggie. I think Maggie did the right thing by yelling at that woman for how she was berating Delilah. I have to agree with Cay that having a baby that small around all those people so soon after birth, that seemed a bit off. I’m not a mom either, but I can’t imagine that any doctor would’ve allowed that kind of exposure so soon after coming home.
What’s the deal with PJ being in the Dixon’s home, and then the reveal that he took Jon’s old photo album and the jersey that Gary was looking for? What is up with that? If the clips for the upcoming episodes is any example, and the fact that PJ saw Delilah at his home, talking to his parents, that perhaps he’s thinking that Jon is his real dad? And, did PJ know that Maggie is part of that group or is that a way-too-far fetched coincidence.
I loved the end with Gary and Maggie in the shower. That was a wonderful little moment, but it was only a moment. Like Cay said these two need to have some time together without drama. Will that ever happen? I also loved the song “The Story” sung by Brandi Carlile that was used in the ending scene. It just felt right to hear that play over those last scenes. And, I have to give kudos to Rome for telling Regina that despite his desire for a child, he “wants us more.” Let’s hope he can stay on that path until (or if) Regina is ever ready to change her mind.
Back to PJ for a minute, is the big mystery (if we can even call it that) going to be PJ figuring out the real truth about his parentage and how that will affect the rest of the characters since he has intentionally or not “wormed” (for lack of a much better word) his way into Maggie’s practice and Rome’s life. Given the fact we already know that PJ has his issues – which he shared with Rome in the latter episodes of the debut season – how will he begin to unravel as this season plays out?

Here are their questions for the new season:
Cay: I expected we’d get some hint of the new mystery we were promised for this season, but not clear yet, unless it has to do with PJ.
Rueben:
I guess I put my questions above, but here is one: What will happen when Danny and Sophie learn that baby Charlie is Eddie’s biological daughter? You know that there is only so long that that secret can be held between the group.
