My Top 12 Choices for July TV

2022 is now nearly half over (where did the time go?!), and summer programming is in full swing with lots of viewing options throughout the month of July.

Among all those options I’ve picked my top 16 choices for what I am looking forward to watching and they are as follows:

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

The new drama The Terminal List, based on the Jack Carr best-selling novel, will debut on July 1 on Amazon. The series stars Chris Pratt as James Reece, a Navy SEAL who returns home to his family after his entire platoon is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. He has conflicting memories of the event and questions about his culpability. However, as new evidence comes to light, Reece discovers dark forces working against him, endangering not only his life, but the lives of those he loves.

MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES

Every month there are plenty of movies to watch, covering the gamut of storylines. The main movies this month – excluding the Christmas in July movies on the Hallmark Channel – that I am curious about are:

The Princess on July 1 on Hulu, starring Joey King (The Act and The Kissing Booth franchise) as the title character, who refuses to wed the cruel sociopath to whom she is betrothed (Dominic Cooper). In doing so, she is kidnapped and locked in a remote tower of her father’s castle, but in order to stop her scorned, vindictive suitor, who is intent on taking her father’s throne, the princess must protect her family and save the kingdom.

Don’t Make Me Go on Amazon on July 15, starring John Cho as a single father with a teenage daughter, who learns that he has a fatal brain tumor. Because of that he takes her on a road trip to find the mother who abandoned her years before and to try to teach her everything she might need over the rest of her life.

Persuasion on Netflix on July 15. Yes, I’m a big fan of Jane Austen books and the movie adaptations from those books, and this one isn’t any different; and despite my deep reservations about Dakota Johnson playing Anne Elliot, I want to see if she can meet the expectations and it doesn’t hurt that Henry Golding (from Crazy Rich Asians) is also starring.

The Gray Man is the next big action flick to air on Netflix also on July 15. With a cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Bridgerton hunk Rege-Jean Page, I can’t pass up watching this one that focuses on what happens when the CIA’s most skilled operative, whose true identity is known to none, accidentally uncovers dark agency secrets, a psychopathic former colleague puts a bounty on his head, setting off a global manhunt by international assassins.

Lastly, 14 Love Letters will debut on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries at 9 PM on July 31. The tagline for the movie is: After historic love letters start anonymously appearing in Kallie Sharp’s mailbox, the hobby farmer searches for her secret admirer and opens herself up to love. Yes, it’s sappy (it’s Hallmark, after all), but I’ll be watching.
