My Top Choices for June TV
This year is moving along so fast. Doesn’t it seem like it was just January not that long ago? How is it nearly summertime?
Like every other month, there are a lot of programming options coming up in June, and among all of those choices, I have selected my top 14 for the month.
COMING BACK FOR MORE
The Boys will be back with season 3 on Amazon on June 3 (and considering Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles has joined the cast, I am even more anxious to see this new season).
The CBS legal drama All Rise starts its third season on its new home network on OWN. It’ll premiere on June 7 at 8 PM.
On June 10, For All Mankind will premiere its third season on Apple TV+. The astronauts will be embarking on a mission to Mars so I’m sure it’ll be full of intensity.
The Canadian drama Hudson & Rex (about a detective and his K9 partner, a gorgeous German Shepherd) will premiere its second season on UP Faith & Family (the streaming services of the network UPtv) on June 19. I’m halfway through the show’s first season right now so I’ve got some binging ahead of me.
On June 22, the much anticipated third season of The Umbrella Academy will premiere on Netflix. Given the cliffhanger ending of last season, I cannot wait to see how the story develops.
SEASON FINALES
The following shows will air their season finales in June:
The Time Traveler’s Wife on HBO on June 19 at 9 PM
The First Lady on Showtime on June 19 at 9 PM
Superman & Lois on The CW on June 28 at 8 PM
MOVIES, MOVIES, MOVIES
There are plenty of movies airing all throughout June, but my top 5 follow:
Interceptor on Netflix on June 3. This action-packed film stars Elsa Pataky (aka Chris Hemsworth’s wife who has appeared in the Australian TV series Tidelands and the Fast & Furious franchise). She plays an Army captain who must use her years of tactical training and military expertise when a simultaneous coordinated attack threatens the remote missile interceptor station she is in command of.
Spiderhead on Netflix on June 17. Speaking of Chris Hemsworth, he will star in his own Netflix movie that is set in the near future where convicts are offered the chance to volunteer as medical subjects to shorten their sentence. Top Gun: Maverick’s Miles Teller and Lovecraft Country’s Jurnee Smollett co-star.
Buried in Barstow on Lifetime on June 4 at 8 PM. I rarely watch Lifetime movies simply because they aren’t always that good, and this new franchise could very well follow that path; however, I’m going to give it a chance simply because it stars (and is executive produced by) Angie Harmon. Hallmark fave Kristoffer Polaha co-stars as does Angie’s Rizzoli & Isles co-star Bruce McGill.
Moriah’s Lighthouse on the Hallmark Channel on June 18 at 8 PM. Another Hallmark fame, Luke Macfarlane, stars in this original movie set in a French seaside town with Twilight alum Rachelle Lefevre.
Two Tickets to Paradise will air on June 25 at 8 PM on the Hallmark Channel, starring my personal favorite Ryan Paevey along with Hallmark alum Ashley Williams.. The movie is set in the tropics, focusing on two people who were both stood up at the altar at their respective weddings.
JOINING THE FOLD
Lastly, there is one new drama that will debut in June that I am very curious about. It’s the FX drama The Old Man set to debut on June 16 at 10 PM, starring veteran actor Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase, who absconded from the CIA decades ago and has been living off the grid since. When an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past. John Lithgow and Amy Brenneman (Judging Amy) co-star.
